I need to do an oil change for the first time on my 98Z, and i dont have the manual so i dont know what kind i need. Does anyone know off hand? Thanks

 

Its holds 5.5 quarts. 10w30 standard oil is what I use. I guess you can spend the extra on mobil 1 if you want. But I have also heard that using synthetic in the ls1 will make piston slap more noticeable.

 

On my 94 TA & 89 Iroc, the oil filler cap on both tell you to use 5W30. However you should consider weather conditions. For the winter I use 5W30 and in the summer I use 10W30, which is a little thicker.

 

5w30 all year round. Run synthetic.

 

Mobil 1 5W-30 for year round, if you race it or drive it hard every now and thenrun what I do
Mobil 1 15W-50 amazing stuff

 

My dads car has over 230k on it and have always ran Wal-mart bought super-tech 10w30...changed every single 3000-4000 miles.

If you are going to chage it every 3000 I am convinced that you do not need synthetic.
