What may cause this?

I replaced the ignition cylinder in my 95 Z with a new GM unit including the key. When I turn the key to "start," the engine cranks as if it will start, but once I release it the engine shuts off. It will not run unless I keep the key in "start" position. My buddy says there are two 7mm bolts I have to loosen to adjust something in the column but I don't see them, any ideas?

Well, I found it. The ignition switch was shot.
