This is what I would do :
A.) go with the silver one, and with the $1000 you save, buy your self a old truck to drive daily so you dont have to worry about putting all those miles on your newer car.

B.) Keep looking and find something with less miles than the silver one that hasnt been in wrecked (like the black one) for less money! They are out there

Re: what's more important, looks or mileage?

Last year I bought my 93 with 32k miles. The blue book put a $700 value on the 100k miles the car didn't have. I paid around double book value, but got all the nice mods too. I usually don't consider a car with mods, but since most were suspension and basically the updated SS level two setup and everything was bolt on I decided to look at the car.

The prior owner didnt take it out in the rain for the ten years he owned it. the car was flawless.

Now to your question, sort of. I paid about double book, but had to decide howmuch I would pay. I put a near zero value on the mods, then looked at the blue book of a three year old car which would have had 30-45k miles to get the value of a new car with the same mileage. I wasnt going to pay that for a ten year old car. I think I averaged the book of a 93 with 32k and the book of a 2000 with 32k to decide what to offer the seller.

The important thing is I put a near zero value on the mods, but put a value on the mileage. I thought the car would be snapped up quickly if I decided to get out. I originally planned on using it three or four years. My wife just gave me the green light on a 04 GTO, and nobody is nibbling on the car in the classifieds.

So muc for mileage as a selling factor. I think it is worth the $$ for a lower mileage car. Im just not having the luck I thought I would getting out of the car. Not a real answer, but maybe some food for thought.
