Do they open the hood or look for the air hoses? i have a tick and after reading i think if i remove my air and use blockoff plates it will get rid of the tick. i know i will have an ses light until i get a tune to take the code out but if the code gets taken out will they be able to tell the code was removed? this sux

The way I understand it, programming out the code will leave a "sensor not ready" code in the computer, and depending on which state, a few of those can fail you, even w/o an SES light. As far as looking for the hardware, I'm not really sure, it might just depend on the person conducting the test

It all depends on the reading coming out of the tailpipe. Most states check for the Cat and for a sealed gas cap. Now if the emission equipment isn't working the reading are gone to fail you.
