The prices seem about right. I'd pass on the salvage title though.

 

Looked at the maroon 94 was actually a misprint and a 93. 273 rear which is better for him starting out(don't they have a speed limiter for top speed??) A/C was warm(said it needed a recharge). Radio didn't work, wipers didn't go down all the way when shut them off. K/N CAI, flowmaster muffler with stock tail pipes and a big Sun tach with attached shift light on the dash even though factory tach worked. Claimed never to have raced it wife's car. I drove it, slower than my 94 but ran and shifted fine. Also headliner falling down. My opinion 4K too much, especially a 93. Left with him to call me on tuesday night with best he can take less than 4K.

 

Lex, look at the speedometer. If it goes up to 115 its speed limited. If it shows a 155 speedo its not.

 

Looked at a teal colored 95 last night. All stock not even a muffler or CAI. Had 97K miles, auto, Bose system, pretty clean, seat worn through where you get in so had a cover over it, had cheap tires, wrong size 60 series. Did have the 3.23 rear and ran very strong. He had replaced the opti and the water pump 2 months ago. Also had the intake gasket done as had a leak there. And new brakes 6 mths ago. Wanted $3850 but saidd would take $3700. Stepson was working last night so I didn't have him with me. Wife thinks the color might be too girly. Best driving one so far and I'm ready to offer him $3500.

 

I just bought my 93 in my signature for 3800, I think it was a great deal with 83k miles, the interior just need to be cleaned, and the paint is okay, the hood is checked and the front bumper has alot of rock chips in it, but the car is amazing. I beat on it a little hard this summer and am paying for it with a new transmission going in with a nice stall converter.

 

The 95 is the one I want to buy. She's also worried it might be too fast for him and dangerous in bad weather. So have to work on the wife and and make sure he likes the color since he's putting up some of the money and were going to make him pay us the difference in pmts.

 

I am 19, and have driven for a little while, at first just let him drive during dry conditions, maybe go out with him on occasion and teach him how to drive it aggresively so he knows how to react..I am in college so I do not have to drive mine in the snow, but it has been driven in the rain extensively on bald tires..not a good thing to do, but it has really taught me how to control the car. Almost pulling a 180 trying to powerslide on dry pavement is fun!

 

Just got off the phone with the wife, does not want to spend that much wants to be closer to $3K and under if possible. My point is better to pay a little more and get better than pay less and have to put a bunch of money into it.

 

You sound like you got a good handle on it Lex. I just bought the 95 in my sig for 4300 and its a salvage (91k). Looked it over real good and it drives straight. Some Reconst. titles are clunkers and some have had effort put into the restoration.

(Cue everyone telling me I paid too much)

 

Going back at 4 today to take a 2nd look at the 95 with the stepson. The wife is starting to come on board with the car. It was dark when we looked at it last time and I want a good daylight inspection, plus he hasn't seen it yet and a good bit of it will be his money. The guy with the 93 won't budge off of $3700 which I feel is too much for that car, plus they were the 1st 4th gen and had many unique parts.

 

Got him down to $3500 on the 95 last night and we pick it up Thursday. I'll post some pic's after we get it. Stepson is excited. His brother has a 89 IROC convertible with a 305. He will be able to smoke him. We are a Camaro family.
