Worth the money for the traction?

I have BFG KDWS tires all around right now. I have noticeable slipping just hitting the throttle from a slow roll.

Would it be worth the ~$200 to swap the rears out for Yokohama AVS ES100s?

If no, how else would you spend this relatively small amount of money?

No, get some Nitto Drag Radials on the rear. Work great both on the street and the track.

Re: Worth the money for the traction?

And that will not give me ANY issues with my rear AT ALL? I am not willing, at this point, to sacrifice any unnecessary parts to be damaged by torque and traction.

How many miles can I get out of them?

EDIT: If I were to keep my tires and put a small amount of money in suspension... which is better and why:
(1): New BMR LCAs and Panhard
(2): BMR SFCs

Re: Worth the money for the traction?

i assume you mean straight line traction...like launching?

if so SFC will make minimal improvements...yeah possibly a little in a more rigid body...but actual suspension parts would be better.

if you want to launch better i would get some LCA, relocation brackets and a poly torque arm mount.

this way you will vertually eliminate any wheel hop and make better contact with the road on the launch.

PHB only benefits you in lateral traction

If you get drag radials watch out in the rain, you will be all over the road.

So... ur saying I don't need to change the torque arm at this point... just the bushings or whatever?

Re: Worth the money for the traction?

pretty much...alot of guys are running REALLY low times with stock arms.

the main problem is flex in the rear suspension. this throws the whole geometry off and causes wheelhop and loss of traction.

now i'm not saying suspension mods will make crappy tires hook...they wont.

but if you have good tires and are getting wheelhop or alot of spin...they should help.

the lca and brackets will help control axle twist due to being more rigid and less flex in the bushings. and a more optimal angle to control the axle's desire to rotate under load.
the TA bushing does the same thing

I have a full set of these on my car right now and love them.

Re: Worth the money for the traction?

I have Yokohama AVS ES100s on all four corners. I can nail it from 5 mph and not spin the tires. They spin a little from 1 - 2 when I shift hard but all in all I am very pleased with them. I think the tread wear is rated at 200 and DR's are rated at 100 or so.

lt1's have more torque down low I believe and I have only a lid as hp mod so take that into account as well.

A little slip, in a stock car? Erm, your tires aren't your main problem. You dont have the power to spin the tires from a roll in a stock car. I'd look into getting a clutch.

Re: Worth the money for the traction?

Oh ya my clutch is also ****. Sometimes when I hit second hard it will red line while I go 45 mph When I punch it from a roll it is usually ok but if I launch at all it will slip bad. Maybe I should invest in a Z06 clutch.

My friend behind me would not mistake a squeel from my tires for a clutch I don't think. May need that too... but I definately can get some tire spin.

Awesome Tires. Wet and dry traction is superb. I had trouble getting them to spin at all in a basically stock LT1 M6, but didn't drop the clutch.I've heard wear on them isn't that good, but I personally can't vouch for that, only had them on for about 10k miles or so.
