Z28 radio
Hello Folks !!... I'm new to this forum, having just picked up a 95 Z28. This is my first Camaro...and so far I'm very happy with it. However...it has the "Radio from Hell". Sometimes it plays...sometime it doesn't. It can be playing along and "Bam !!", it's playing full blast. The first couple of times were unexpected suprises. Anyhoo...does anyone know a good site to have it replaced or repaired?...I prefer to keep her original.
Thank you in advance for the help...

Re: Z28 radio
Well first you own a CAMARO, not a Camero Second, your best bet on the radio is checking the wiring harness behind it and seeing it its loose or theres a noticeable break in a wire. If it looks alright just search around here for a used one, you can have a stock radio pretty cheap.

Thank you Katalysm and Taintedz28 for the replies. Sorry for the mispelling ...without spellcheck I am lost. I am only a Locomotive Engineer...I don't have to spell correctly...just toot my horn and ring the damned bell . I haven't torn her out yet to check the harness...but that's next. Tainted...she is a stock radio. Bose can be tempermental, but I've had them in other Vette's n' Caddies...I like 'em. SPL Electronic's has them (refurbished) for $275. If the harness is OK...I'll give them a call. Thanks Fellas for the reply's

Mine did the same thing. It had a burnt out resistor inside. I found one on here for $30.00 that had a bad CD unit. I put my CD unit on it and it works fine. I have seen a few on EBAY that had bad CD units for pretty cheap. It is easy to change out the CD unit.

In 2003 they charged me $65 to completly overhaul my delco CD unit. It didnt work at all. No problems sinse. They also gave me a new set of lamps for my radio at an additional $12 fee. I soldered in the new lamps and plugged in the overhauled CD unit.
[edit] I just called the guy to verify they are still in business. I updated their address because they moved down the road a little ways. He says they do all sorts of Delco and Delco/Bose repairs. They fix amps, re-cone speakers, fix headunits, etc. You can send in an entire headunit for repair to the radio, *****, display, or you can send in just the CD component for overhaul... They are flexable.
