Re: $5k to invest in my car and no shops around
I found a midnight blue 2000 SS with 47901 miles. They are asking 1k more than what its worth...if it was in excellent condition, which it slightly lacks. I'm going to try and haggle with them.

Joe, Mike, Horsepower TV,
I can't remember the last time you guys had an F-body Camaro on the show. I watch Horsepower TV every chance I get on Sundays when I don't work.

i purchased a 1999 T/A LS1/M6 in march of '05 for $7,500 w/83k miles.. no strings attached, no body damage, or mechanical damage. this was from a used car lot. i had to change some bulbs but that was IT. i drove it for a year and ~25k miles with no problems (then sold it)
$14k for a '97? F*CK THAT. even the kbb $11,700 is nuts.
keep looking, and find an LS1. i know the LS1/A4 cars can be had for ~$8 or less pretty easily. ive seen them on autotrader.com quite often. getting an M6 in decent shape for $8 is pretty hard tho.
good luck!
