Suposedly they are underrated as the LS1's are. Looking around 370 to 380 rwhp. So I have heard. But remember they are not drag cars, IRS is heavy and is almost impossible to luanch hard correctly.

370-380 at the rear wheels sounds about right for a 5 speed. Ford lists the Cobra as 390 at the fly wheel,correct? So, take of 10-12% and you get close to those numbers.

Just curious, what do Camaros with around 370rwp run on average?

Who cares. All ford has shown me is they had to put a supercharger on thier pony car just to hang. In my opinion its about time ford did something. For 35 years Ford has had there A!@ handed to them time and time again. The only thing that sucks is that there is no new F body for us to buy to toy with the fords. I dont see the car being all that fast not Z06 or Viper fast. I am sure it has enought to handle us Fbody guys. Look at it this way. It still cant touch the two bad boys at the top. Ford Sucks

MOST ARE GETTING 350-360RWHP SAE Corrected BOX STOCK......I think the higher claims are exadurated, or with the air scilencer ripped off or the factory freal that people like to interprate as the norm. Basically, they put down what the 02 Z06 put down. Underrated?...yes...vipet terratory???? NO!

bottom line......stock the car is putting down lots of power...i don't like fords but right now the stock cobra will kick my fbody and yours alike....crying that it has a supercharger doesn't change the reality of the horsepower it has. When it runs 12.4 or so to my 12.8-9 ....guess what he wins..and saying to myself hey, it won't beat the zo6 or viper doesn't make me feel better...why...because the dude can't afford 50k plus for a car....( workingmans blues)....so to ford I say damn your cobra will kick my fbody (for now) and to gm I say ***** you guys for cancelling my car !

Here are two sobering thoughts: 1. MM&FF put the stock Lightning pulley (the one the Lightning guys throw away when they upgrade) on an '03 Cobra and ran 12.2 @ 117 with no other changes (read spare tire, pump gas, stock tires!). 5.0 Mustang ran an article in which they added an X-pipe with cats, a Borla cat-back, replaced the air filter with a K&N and ditched the air box and made 400 HP at the wheels. The car ran well into the 11's.

if you think about it, it is perfromance wise similar to the cobra r, but one thing we must take into considderation is how many are going to be produces. in such a case there may be more lingenfelter and mti camaro and firebirds running around as there are s/c's. so who really won?

Did you read what I said fully befor you started to type??? I said its about time that ford did what they did. and i also said they do have fbodys beat this time. But all of this still has nothing to do with the fact ford has been getting the smack down for 35 years by the Camaros. Now as for the Jukstang Fords top car. I feel this is without saying. Is the Mustang Fords top car? Yes i dont now of anything faster put out buy Ford. For 35 years Fords top car the mustang couldnt hang with Chevys Camaro. Now The Camaro isnt Chevys top car the Vette is. As for the 2003 Z06 i am sure it will hands down smoke the cobra. If you have seen the 50th Vette has 400hp so what will the 2003 Z06 have? more then the 400 in the vette. so what i see is Ford went one up on a car that isnt being build anymore, which came close to the 2002 Z06. But chevy came right back with a 400hp Vette for 2003.
As for the money issue. Mustang GT,s have always been more money then Z28's. Its not a money thing. Its a Car Company thing. Why do you think guys at Callaway & LPE go with Vetts when they want to kick some overseas butt. Its not a money thing when you make a car like the sledgehammer and not sell any. But make one to kick AS% on some cars from overseas. That a true company thing. To take a vette and smoke all things on the streets in any Country for no profit. by the way not many people in this contry can pay insurance and make a payment on a car thats just under 40K. and Ford still sucks
