1998 ls1 152,xxx miles?
I would really appreciate some quick opinions. I'm currently looking for an ls1 camaro. My budget is 8k, but staying under would be great. I found one that looks pretty good, and the owner says was maintained well (going to find out if thats true). Only downside is it has 152,xxx miles. He says it was mostly highway driving, and he changed the oil every 2500miles/3months.
Here's the link to it on craigslist:

Its a 1hr drive. So my question is: is it worth considering? i plan to keep the car at least 5 years (i drive around 5k miles/year, and i may get some bolt-ons for it), and if so, is there something specific i should check on it?
By the way, my sincerest apologies if i'm posting this in the wrong place.
Thanks a lot

It's kind of odd in the add on craigslist that the seller is looking to maybe trade for another LS1 car that is newer. What is wrong with his. If I have a good car that I know everything about, why would I want to trade for a car with the possibility of many unknowns. Based on that, I think there maybe a hidden problem with the car. Just my opinion. As far as the price, I think it's in the ballpark for the price.

seller is proably just selling ti becaseu he's bored with it but you never know
I'd rather look for a newer one with less miles, shop around, plenty of cars out there, however it will be hard to find a good 4th gen because they are all 9 years or older. i would even be looking for something even newer than a 2002 but i have to admit there's nothing like a camaro or trans-am. other possbiliites, mustang, monte carlo, pontiac g6, dodge avenger, accord coupe, mazda, mitsu eclispe, Acura. Drive a lot of cars, find out what you like.

Those wheels are nasty and the paint looks beat to hell. He should of at least washed it for the pics. Ask him for some under the hood pictures to see what it looks like there. I would consider this car if I lived closer than an hour away. I wouldn't want to drive that far to take quick look and say no. Ask for some pictures of the interior as well. You can usually tell a lot about an owner by the interior of his/her car.

thanks for all the advice. By the way, those rims were going very quickly anyway, lol. I managed to borrow a bit more money, and im currently looking at a 2000 SS. 52k miles. Looks a hell of a lot better. Its 4 hrs away, but if its close to as good as it looks, its worth it to me.
