1998 T/A vs 2000 T/A
After looking around I have found several 2000 WS6s in the range of $20-25k.
I also found many 1998 WS6s in the range of $12-$18k.
My question is, is it worth spending the extra $5k and getting the 2000? Or would it be a better idea to save some money and get the 98, even though they have 50k more miles?
Also, was anything changed cosmetically between those years? How about any engine changes?
Also, what is the code in the VIN that signifies it as a WS6?
Thank You.

basically the same car, I think the 00 has a slightly different exhaust set up(manifolds)...but not enough to make performance any different then the 98...only differances in the ls1's was from the year 98-00 and 01-02..and even that isnt huge..maybe 5-10

I paid $14k for my 1998 Z fully loaded (no leather)with 36K miles on it.The car runs constant 8.5's in the 1/8 and runs like a champ. The only plus I can see for the 00+ is the LS6 intake and no EGR.And you can pick up a LS6 intake for around $300-$400.Good luck.
Kevin
PS
My '98 pulled 275 RWHP in the wrong gear with nothing but a lid.

There are so many variables you have to use your head about it. First you presented a true range from $12k-$25k, that's a huge range. There are many factors involved in buying a car, who was the owner, how was it cared for, what shape is it in, things like that can be worth a lot more than 20k miles. How do you plan on using the car, daily driver, how many miles per year, etc? These are all important in the decision process. Personally, I would go with the middle of the road car that seems to offer the best deal, can you find one with around 50-60k miles for around $15-$17k, that seems like it would be the best deal. Remember, cars are not investments, they are money pits and the more you spend the more you lose....! I paid $19k for my SS with 28k miles on it and still under warranty.

I didn't say 12-25k.
I said $12-18k for a 98, and $20-25k for an 02. I think i'll go with the 98 and see if I can find one with decent mileage. I can put about $7,500 down on the car by the time I am ready to buy, which would make monthly payments a breeze, even with insurance added on.
BTW, 275rwhp? Most guys dyno at 305rwhp when stock.
