2001 Z28 - Spend My Money

Hey,

Just looking for everybody's input on the standard mods people do for the LS1. It'll be a daily driver, with little to no track runs. I'm looking at the following

- Some type of catback (which do you guys recommend?) I was looking to do Corsa exhaust, and posslby thunder racing 1 3/4 race headers
- LS1 Motorsports Direct-Flo Intake Lid
- Ram Air System (FastToys.net version)
- Crank and Alternator Pulleys
- 85MM Hi-Flow MAF
- K&N Filter
- Thermostat (probably 180 degrees)

What other mods are the first that should be done (pretend $ isn't an option - what would I do after these)? And also, any particular recommendations for parts for the above modifications?
Given I do the aforementioned, what kind or RWHP and 1/4 times could I be looking at?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

Looks like you have a pretty good list to start with for a daily driver. You could also look into some gears, that would help as well, other than that you have the basics. Good Luck

Torque Converter --- best mod for off the line acceleration. Do that and some 3.42's or 3.73's and you'll be set for some stoplight to stoplight action.

Don't forget a lid and sub-frame connectors. New tires will probably also be on the "to do" list, especially if you add everything that you listed. Good luck!

I have the Hooker cat back. I diden't get it because it was the cheepest.. I like how it sounded the best from .wav files I'd listened to on the net.

After I got it I like it even more! the kit is put together well and the quad chrome tips are nice!

I'm really glad I waited the 2 extra weeks this exhaust was on factory back order, the sound and quality are great!

If I had to do it again I'd get the same one, no doubt!

Look into it.

This is for a friend by the way...I have a V6, I'm not completely knowledgable with the Z28. I assume the usual gear upgrade is to 3.42 gears? As far as a torque converter, got any links for them? Never really heard of them as a normal first few mods, but I'll definitely look into it.

Hooker catback? Pretty nice? Is that true duals out of the engine, then X pipe into 2 cats, and 2 mufflers? What's the setup on them?

money isn't an option?

reliability tuned 422 + nitrous
dry sump
various coolers
intake exhaust stuff
drivetrain stuff
9 bolt
suspension stuff
17x11 315's all around
porsche big red brakes

removeable rollbar
seats
harness

real Xenon HID lights
custom paint job
stereo system with a quality sub in the back

It would be bruatally fast, solid in 11's without the spray
probably even more reliable than stock

That list is pretty good but personally I would stay away from the pulleys...and definitely the MAF.

He's thinking about having a fairly high-powered stereo (well over 1000 Watt RMS). Would putting different pulles on effect this quite a bit? Given he DID put pullies on (average HP gain of this?) I assume he'd want a better alternator and / or a capacitor?
