2002 Z28

first i did an air lid and k&n. and i just got a b&m shifter for xmass, and its about a buzillion time better then the stock shifter (mine didnt come with the hurst). next im going to lower my car. thunderracing.com has a nice setup for $350.00 it has Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, BMR Weld-in Lower Control Arm Brackets and a BMR Adjustable Panhard Rod. i think im also going to get some Subframe Connectors as well but i dont know what brand im guna go with. also the stock rotors suck. mine warped after 3500 miles. i would like to get the Baer Eradispeed's but they cost alot so i may go with the Power Slot's. i also got some clear corners cuz i think they look better then the orange ones. o ya.. slp Loudmouth seems to be the most popular catback, but i kinda like the corsa.

Are you still going for the 35th anniversary edition?
Well to answer your question, www.installuniversity.com has a lot of free mods you could do to your vehicle. If you get manual, the first thing I would do is remove that skip shift thing, where it makes you go from first to fourth gear. The factory specifications for the Z28 are way underrated, these things produce around 330-350HP stock.

Nice !
I would do the free mods, then skip-shift elmin, shifter, lid, Holly filter not the K/N as it fits much better, then exhaust. From there some suspension, and then go from there.
Enjoy the last of the f-bodies!

Do not get the aftermarket filter unless you just want to throw the cash at it for the looks.. really that is all you are getting.. Read my review in the sig to find out why..
For me gas mileage is important.. I will stay stock unless my new data shows that the lid maintained the same mileage..
Mods that I have on my car are Lid, and a APC breather filter on my air pump hose.. thats it... but they are only going to be on for the track.. not for every day.. it took all of 3 min with a swiss army knife to install the lid.. that tells me that I can go back and forth btw. stock and lid when I want.. So, I will..
What you should consider IMO is suspension mods and tire... why?
Because from this exact point, you cannot get the power you have to the ground. That begs the question of WHY ADD power? To make up for the lame launch? Thats sad. Add traction and have a low 13 bone stock car... THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! JMO though...
Good luck!

Depends what your car is.
If its an A4, then I would go lid, catback, ported TB, cutout, Tires, LCAs, and a new torque Convertor from Yank. You should about a second off your 1/4 mile with those fun mods. If you still have money to spare the next big mod in my opinion is LT headers.
LT headers and the Yank convertor are gonna cost you the most, but I think the convertor should be bought 1st.
If its an M6, then I would go lid, catback, cutout, LT headers, gears (4.10 or 3.73s) tires, LCA's
A few recommendations for ya too.
Torque Convertor- Yank (SY3500, SS3800)or Precision Industry (Vig3400) there is tons of info of TC at the Yank web site.
LT Headers- QTP headers www.quicktimeperformance.com
LCAs- anywhere, BMR products are nice and cheap
Tires- nittos, BFG www.discounttiredirect.com or www.tirerack.com
catback- anywhere, I prefer the Corsa catback, try www.tbyrnemotorsport.com
gears- anywhere
electric cutout- www.quicktimeperformance.com
There are a ton of things out there to buy that'll make you car faster and better, everything I listed are simple bolt on items, most can be done by yourself and some need to be done by a mechanic

essentially they are a small Y that is added to the car.. Depending on purpose, you can add them before or after the cats.. One of the Y branches has a cap that can be removed.. this is the CUTOUT..
Picture a Y <--- the bottom is A the left fork is B and the Right fork is C.. C faces the ground..
A - connects to the exhaust towards the front
B - Connects to the exhaust leading rearward
C - has a plate that can be removed or "opened" - there are electric versions of this..
This essentially gives you a more freely flowing exhaust..
Some people put them just before the rear axle, others before the cats.. its your call.. if you are just wanting it for the track then before the cats is your best bet, if you want to have it open (its very loud) all the time then at the rear is your best place..
hope this helps..

depends on the model... you can find them cheap for $30 or so with wing nuts holding the plate on.. or you can get the one from quicktime.. they are electric and controled in your car.. more expensive.. as for welding... well its what you can find in your area.. usually less than $100.. I get most of my exhaust work done at one place and the guy is kewl so he charges me just what he thinks is fair.. like $20 to fix a break or $50 to hook up my cat (it was illegal since it was gutted) to a Y-pipe.. (old car)...

As far as performance mods, do the lid, use your stock filter, dont waste $45 bucks on any of them.
Exhaust, I bought a catback because I wanted good sound all the time, cutouts when you do open them sound terrible, its worth buying a catback just for the looks and sound it gives you.
Get a skip shift elimnater, and an aftemarket shifter is a good idea
even if you have the stock Hurst.
