Back in July I paid 18,400 for my 99SS with 65k A4 leather t-tops. People get away with charging a lot here.

Red face Ugghhh - what a resale value !!

Depends on what online guide you use, but ...

http://www3.nadaguides.com/Values/Zi...Sec=2&wPg=1102

follow it thru muscle cars for SS's and average retail is $ 19,900.

Note that this
does not take mileage into account , nor has it seemed to have changed since last year.

www.kbb.com takes the mileage into play - for a car in excellent shape, private party value is $17,640.

I'd say 15K is a good deal, but bear in mind a newer Z28 could probably be had for close to the same, and might have a residual warranty.

Newer ones also get the radio controls - the '99s don't, but have fatter steering wheels.

Oh, the '01's & ' 02's have a more powerful motor due to a revised intake, no EGR, and a different camshaft.

Just some points to ponder - good luck any way you go !!

Cool

I'd like to say I agree with robvas, but unfortunately there is no way you can find a 99 SS for that price. Unless you are able to attend some auctions or something.

If the asking price is 15K, offer 13.x and see what that does. I don't think 15K would be too bad, either.

Is it at a dealer? If it is and you are not buying it, let me know and I'll go and see if we can work a trade for my Firebird. Seriously.

Good luck!

No it is not a dealer......It is a woman .......I have been looking for an LS1 based 6 Spd. for about 8 months.........here in the midsouth this didnt seem to exist. So when i found this car, I jumped on the deal.....I am going to look at it Sat. I thought i would offer $13,500. I am sure she will counter with $14,000.

It depends on your location.

Down here, $15k for a '99 SS is a pretty good deal if it's in good condition. I think most nice '99-'00s are going for $18-20k.

Obviously, try to talk her down a little but even if she won't budge on the price...it's still a good deal, IMO.

Update

Well i test drove the car Sun. It drove great.....no rear end noises....But there was a couple issues that concerns me. First the SES light was on. Second the VIN in the dash does NOT match the VIN on the drivers side door.......which leads me to believe that it has been wrecked before.....of course the owner knows nothing of the sort......playing dumb i suppose.....But we did agree on $13,500.........If i decide to buy it. Have you called SLP to get a build nubmer and verify equip, and have you done a carfax check? Also, if the numbers don't match, it could be wrecked; or even stolen. Move carefully.

I don't have a SS, But I bought a 1998 WS6 about 7 months ago for $21,000. Mint though, 18k miles, Metallic Gold, 02 Rims.

High, but it's like new.

Retail on it is around 21k right now.

Only two words come to my mind: STAY AWAY!!!

I wouldn't touch that kind of car, no matter how good of an explanation the owner gives you.

My 2 cents... Take it what's it worth to you...

I agree, No wrecked car is the same after.. No matter what anyone says. It will be in your mind the whole time you own it. (that it was wrecked).

I would avoid it.

Lots of other great deals out there.

There is a 99 SS NMB, leather, t tops, 12 disc changer, and only
23,000 miles in the local paper. It is a private owner and he is asking $16,500.
If I wasnt upside down in my car, I would jump on that one.

I agree location is important. I think that price is pretty good, especially for my area, but I got my car with all the mods in sig minus rims and s2000 start, and it also came with white face guages, chameleon head unit, 6 mini disc changer and jl stealth box for 15,000 with 55,000 on it. The guy was asking 17,500 but was very anxious to sell it becuase his parents were helping him buy a Beemer. I went through the auto trader every week for a month and a half. It was tough too becuase I had no car because i totalled my Z! I know how you feel, if you can't talk this lady down, be patient, good deals are out there. And if you just have to have this particular car then buy it...the price is not that far off.

Yea i agree with you guys.......I was sooooo disappointed when i saw the non matching VIN's........The bank is running the VIN to see if it has a salvaged title and the history on the car.......but the door had to of been changed to say the least.......Ohh well not everyday can be a Sunday huh?.....
