99 z28 LS1 header suggestions/installation

i have a 99 z28 LS1, with a cat back 3'' borla adjustable exhaust. i definantly want to do longtube headers, high flow cats, to Y-pipe.

right now im leaning towards SLP headers. only because Kooks is a little expensive for my current budget. any suggestions? go with SLP with the 4-1 system or look for a 4-2-1 system or spend the money and go with the kooks?

also how difficult is header installation of the headers on my car? i have a car lift so im hoping not too bad.

I always thought SLP had the worst ground clearance. I would either save up for some Kooks, or go cheap. You can get a decent header without breaking the bank.

Thanks Geoff, thats definantly good to kno. i live in the mountains and i already ground out pretty often, id definantly like to keep ground clearance as much as possible.

I'd go with stainless. If kooks are too expensive look at LPP.

My favorite was always Macs. They are only mids, so you don't get the big end like long tubes, but they give you good gains down low and don't kill your bottom end like some do. I don't think they are worth the price they sell for new, though ($500 ish). I used to see them for $200-$300 used all the time 10 years ago, but now they are getting scarce. Super easy install too.

unless SLP has improved ground clearance i saw a car with those and was NOT impressed. i chose jet hots (same as hooker). my suggestion is get ceramic coated. they run slightly cooler. the cheapest use to be pacesetters although i've never seen them. i had a tour of TPIS and got to watch how they made headers, very impressed but too expensive for me. cheers! ps i think i have good clearance in fact my aluminum trans pan hangs slightly lower than my headers! i've only scraped my SLP cross member/drive shaft safety loop, not my headers.

Texas Speed has some nice long tubes at a good price.

I went with OBX Stainless Steel off of Ebay, they are said to be Chinese knock offs of Kooks brand.
