I'm about to get a 98 C5 automatic w/ 53K miles. What mods would you do first? I'm thinkin a tune-up first (obviously), then maybe cold-air and throttle body bypass.. Probably a colder stat as well. Let me know something! Thanks

I don't know if you have the money but lingenfelter has this supercharger package that looks pretty sweet.

As far as the tune up I would just do the wires, then I would get a shift kit or such to improve the shifts and then the exhaust, possibly neew tires if they haven't been changed and then work on headers, gears, cam and that sort but start with exhaust and a clean K&N air filter.

dunno about the exact impacts of handling and manners, but flip thru or serach some vette sites, and there's a real easy way to lower your vette by 3/4 of an inch by fiddling around a lil.

I'm not really lookin for "viper" speed or anything just some improvement from the factory hp. Also, how the hell do you check the tranny fluid on these things? I know it's connected to the rear end but where's the dipstick?!

Cool

As you mentioned, I would start with a complete tune-up. I would also take it to a reputable transmission shop to have the trans. completely flushed and a new filter installed. I know that Phoenix Transmission in Weatherford comes recommended. After that, I'd start with a K&N FIPK kit and a Borla Stinger catback. The Stinger will provide you with a GREAT sound, it will be lighter than the stock system, and it will free up some HP! We're one of the very few that have them in stock right now, and they're $599. It's a pretty nice price for a Borla, especially if you compare it to the prices of other C5 systems! The FIPK kit will help with pulling more air in. I think you should also swap the torque converter for a Vigilante 2,800 stall. That will be the best mod you can do for an A4!

Feel free to give me a call, and I'll be glad to discuss your modding options with you.
