NOT trying to hi-jack this man's thread,OR challenge anyone here, but i am curious as to why the TR 55's are recomended as opposed to the TR 5's. From Thunder Racing's website the TR 5's have a .035 gap, which means less distance for the spark to travel, this a more powerful spark. Why (and i mean why as in i want to learn ) are the TR 55's so much more used as the have a larger gap @ .050?? Has it got something to do with a detonation issue??

The TR5s come pregapped at .035".
More gap = bigger spark = more mixture ignited at once = potentially more power.
LS1s and LT1s are designed to use about a .050" gap. With an MSD ignition setup, you can decrease the gap since the plug is being fired multiple times to ignite as much of the mixture as possible.
