Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulators on LS1!
A buddy of mine has a 2000 SS Camaro. He's considering putting a AFPR on his car. I have heard that in some cases your computer can reset itself to its factory setting if its running to lean. I am just curious as to whether or not this is true for the LS1's. Thanks!

It has been proven on some LT1s that the computer will actually change the pulse width of the injector to compensate for an increase of fuel pressure. The LS1 seems to be no different, plus it is alot smarter in the area of A/F. I have yet to see anyone post about an AFPR and good results.

yeah, these computers are real smart, the regulator will affect it for a while, but the computer will change the pulse width to accomadate the change in fuel pressure. they are only good to verify that a specified fuel pressure is getting to the fuel rail.

Well thats good to know. Is there any certain computer program that will let the AFPR setting stay where you set it at. Im pretty sure the Hypertech wont allow you to set it. Which this is the computer program my buddy has on his car. Is there anything you can do to keep the new setting from the AFPR???

When are you guys goin to tell him how our fuel systems dont have a return, and that we dont have AFPR's ?
Only the 97 and 98 Vettes had AFPR's because they were the only LS1's to have a fuel bypass return..
How do you guys know so much about how the ls1 reacts to them when we dont use them?
I dont mean to laugh.. but

phantom, are you saying we cannot get them on our cars? if so, thats untrue. not trying to flame, just stating...i have one on my car...aftermarket of course. it is fully adjustable and very easy to use. i have it mounted just before the rear axle on the fuel like and i can turn the pressure up via a screw. (doesnt get much easier than that) i have had fine results with mine, no problems whatsoever. before i got my LT's, i had i set for about 3-4 psi more. after i got my LT's and was running pig rich, i backed it down to stock. no problems with installation, using it, or anything with the pcm whatsoever.

What your running is what called a FMU.. same thing many supercharger companies include in their kits with one exception, it doesnt have a boost reference point.
You "can" increase the fuel pressure on our cars by restricting the flow. and thats all your doin. Your fuel correction in your computer is prolly a little out of wack but it will try and adjust the fuel with the injectors and etc.
You CANNOT lower the pressure with your setup, you have no return....
Hence you do not have an AFPR
You have a FMU.
No Flame Intended
