Aftermarket Clutches

Aftermarket Clutches
My stock clutch seems to be fading... feeling mushy and seems not as smooth accelerating in 1st from a stop. I really don't know much about the reputation or quality of aftermarket clutch manufacutrers. I've looked at SPEC, Centerforce and McLeod. I don't have much to compare them by other than price and am looking for suggestions.

The McLeod REV-LOK II seems to be a pretty good clutch kit and one that's reasonably priced too. Probably would be my choice if I needed a new clutch tomorrow.
I don't know too much about the SPEC and Centerforce, except that I will never buy another Centerforce product after my experience with the DF in my '96, I hated it. The SPEC's might be ok (maybe the Centerforce is too) but I know the SPEC in one of my friend's (roughly 400rwhp) T/A didn't last too long with the abuse he put it through.

Do you, or does anyone else know how much horsepower the McLeod REV-LOC II will support? The description at Thunder Racing also mentions that it requires slight modifications to the factory flywheel, what does that entail?

I have to agree with aaron, get the Rev-Lok! Put it this way, I don't think they put a rating on how much power can go through it, but it'll take anything you throw at it. I have heard a lot of problems with the star stage 3, and know the guy that aaron is talking about (by the way, he just got a rev-lok). The star really can't handle the power they say it can, and I heard it's not as streetable. The rev-lok retains stock feel, and there is also a guy that me and aaron know runnin on the rev-lok that goes 10.90's and consistently launches at about 4,000 rpm or so and the rev-lok is having no problems. It'll take anything you throw at it and last a lot longer than the others. IMO it's the best clutch for our car, and it's the cheapest, $420 at thunder racing. You can use the stock flywheel, or buy mcleods lighter one, up to you.
