Airbox Lid

Looking to put an airbox lid on my 2000 Camaro SS. Are there any major differences between the products that are out there (Whisper, Stealth, SLP, etc.)? Which one should I go with and why?

I have a Whisper Air Lid and am very happy with its performance results. I belive my last dyno after I installed the air lid was about 6hp more at the wheels. Good Luck!

I had a regualar SLP lid at first, but i heard that the stealth was better by better i mean more horsepower increase. I think its better but thats my opinion all LS1's vary .... so good luck in your choice.

The air lid from LS1 Motorsports is currently on sale, that's what I got incl the KN air filter. Are you worried about gaining 12 instead of 10 horses ? That's not worth the money IMO.......they all gain some horses but the difference in the price is up to 100 bucks........

I did dyno tests using the k&N (which i would not get) and a MTI lid..

gained more with the lid and stock filter.

Lids are lids.. then there are air boxes as I will call them.. the air boxes like K&N FIPK, Volant and the like (Stealth?), seem to use different from stock filters. Usually oval conical sytles and that would in theory add more surface area and offer air an easier passage into the engine.

We shall see when I do another test...

What systems are you thinking about testing? I've read some good things about the Stealth, but I'd like to know if it's worth spending the extra $200 over a traditional lid. (Same goes for the FIPK). I'd like to see a lid/Stealth/FIPK comparison.

Any airbox lid is the same. Don't listen to what some people may say. Some will say "Oh, the blah blah lid is the best!"

It's false. Any aftermarket lid is the same. Maybe one provides .000001 hp more, but who gives a damn? Look around for specials and stuff. I got my MTI lid for $75 on an internet special, thats the only reason I got it. Just find the best price, the brand doesn't matter.

I'm the one claiming the 16hp increase. Click on my "find more" tab and go to the thread "BEST mod going". Listed there 3 dyno sessions with the mods for each session. Another board member and myself are planning to do some dyno testing compareing the Stealth airbox assembly to an aftermarket lid. Once we get all the details firmed up I'll post the details and when the test are completed those results will be posted.

They all pretty much do the same. Choose whichever one you like best (MTI makes a clear and carbon fiber one) or whichever one is on sale
