SLP makes the hood and spoiler and then sticks a GM part number on them.

I'am assuming you can't by the hood or spoiler from SLP...True?

 

Isn't that funny? SLP makes them, installs them, but you can get the hood and spoiler from any GM parts counter? Oh well ...

 

That might make some sense, since a cement truck smacked into the back of my SS and I brought it to the CHEVY dealership, since I figured they were the best ones to deal with it. Turns out, they couldn't get the right damn spoiler for a month. It may have to the fact that they were idiots, but it may have also been that the spoiler came from SLP and GM didn't have any. Just a thought.

 

so my ss could of been made in the GM factory?? becuase the rims have GM stamped on them and if i look on the third brake light it has SLP part numbers on it.. i wounder...

 

i purchased 2 extra SS rims for my car at SLP in toms river.funny how it is stamped with a GM marking on it but SLP stocks them.

 

I think that everyone is a little confused.

I have an 02 SS and have absoultely no idea what parts it has an which ones it doesn't. Is there a place for SLP codes? Exhaust suspension etc?

 

Did you guys/gals ever see that American Muscle Car episode where they talked about the SS and how the hood/ spoiler are manufactured, painted and installed at SLP. The Silver painted SS rims are put on at the GM factory and if you wanted chrome rims, you had to order them from SLP. As far as who makes the rims? Maybe SLP does their own chroming work since they are responsible for the warranty, not GM.
If I'm not mistaken, the suspension is SS and optional suspension are added at SLP also.
Good discussion...I am just basing what I am saying on what the people at SLP and GM said on that show...

You shoulod have a decal at the back of your passenger door that lists whatever SLP options your car came with.
