Am I over-filling my oil?????
Okay.....I change my own oil so I can use a premium filter and synthetic oil for under 21 dollars. I just had a thought, though....I use the rhino ramps to raise the car in the front, then drain the oul, change filter. I then add 5.5-qt of oil and be done with it. Last night, though, I has a thought....how much of the old oil does the pan retain due to the angle of the car on the ramps. Have I been over-filling? The dip-stick is just above full, but i have heard that the dip-stick is not that accurate. Thopughts??????? Thanx

Well, I can't exactly answer your question, but I know that a lot of autocrossing/roadracing guys put in 6qts of oil anyway (to prevent oil starvation in hard turns), so you probably don't have to worry about the overfilling. Now, you still probably don't want to leave old, dirty oil in there anyway...

good luck,

If you are worried just go buy a cheap $20 floor jack to raise the rear of the car so the car is level. Thats what I so...jack up the front and place it on jack stands, then jack up the rear.

A floor jack is well worth the investment. My wife bought me a floor jack and set of jack stands for Christmas. The set even came with a free creeper.
It makes it a breeze to change the oil. Jack it up, stick it on the stands, and viola!, the car is level and high enough for my big *** to get underneath and change the oil.
5.5 quarts? Mine takes over 6 quarts on a drain/fill. Of course, I also let mine drain for about an hour so there's not much old oil left in the pan.
