Question Any LS1 Gotchas?

I currently own a 94 Z28 M6, which I bought new. I loved the car so much, that I just bought my dad's 02 Z28 M6. Here's the question though: There are a lot of gotchas with the LT1, such as don't ever spray high pressure water on the engine bay, or you'll damage the Opti, change the coolant in the A/C every two years to make the compressor last longer, etc. Are there any tips or gotchas I should know about before I inadvertantly damage my new car or that I should do to make it last longer?

Thumbs up

Not really,my '98 has pretty much 48,000 trouble-free miles (knock on wood) with just basic maintenance.I hose the engine bay down with no regard to electronics, just not spraying toward the computer and I change the oil with Mobil 1 every 3k miles.Other than that,no issues.Enjoy the car.

Well maybe the rear end if you do alot of drag racing. Also I saw a WS6 break his driveshaft at the track last week. He had a strong car though - an honest 13 sec flat car. The stock torque arm sometimes let my car wheelhop at the start also. Still haven't changed it yet.

The LT-1 is pretty sensitive in the Opti-spark area, but the LS1 seems to be much more resistant to damage of this type.

if you do serious autox and roadracing, the power steering pump have a tendency to boil over and fry from the workout and continous high rpms.... A cooler, quality PS fluid,a nd filling it on the low side helps.

btw, I occasionally autox and haven't had a problem myeslf though.. but i only run street tire.
