Arrow anyone with lowering springs...

I just put my H&R springs in myself. The rear was cake (30 minutes), but the front was a different story (about 9 hours). Obviously I didn't have a whole lot of knowledge in the area, but hey, I had a Haynes manual . Getting to the point, now there is a heavy rattling coming from the front suspension when I hit even the smallest bumps, and going over speed bumps, well, that's even worse. It seems to be the worst when it drops (going from new pavement to old.) Somebody told me that they think I didn't get the bolt on top of the strut mount tight enough. Could this be causing the problem? I've taken it to Midas and they said that they tightened everything up except for that bolt. Any one have this experience? Please help! It's driving me crazy!

Could be the top bolt. Did you put all the parts back together. There is a rubber spacethat goes in there. If it's not in or seater right, it knocks and rattles. I know this from experience, I forgot mine originally.
But if everything else has been tightened expect that, go there.

Yes.

This is a very common problem.
What happened is when you put the lowering spring on the strut you did not compress the coil enough. You only compressed it enough to get the threads started on the top bolt. This is wrong.
You have what is called Play in the spring travel.
Sounds kinda like two coke bottles rattling together.
I done the same thing my first time installing the springs. You need to take the whole strut assembly back out and put in in a vice. Compress the coil further down and tighten the top nut until it is tight.

Thanks A LOT! I thought it might be the bolt, but I wasn't sure. I'm dropping it off tonight to get it worked on. I will definately let them know.

No problem,
Just be sure to pass on this info to someone who needs it later on.

Take it easy.
