Anyone running a Whisper lid beware!

I actually removed the wire cover backing on my Fram which may be the reason I showed no increase in hp with my modified Fram verses a K & N.

Unfortunately a lot of businesses think like you do, just hang up on your customer if they have a problem with a product.

SAE says that an oil filter should filter particles as small as 15 microns. I guess they're full of crap and we shouldn't run oil filters either.
Take it easy dude. The guy has a quality issue with a manufacture, let him try to get it handled. And yes, the air filter is an important part of maintenance. Not all cylinders fire at once. If a foreign object is in a cylinder, it could see several cycles before combustion. If something is in the chamber large enough to see with the naked eye, it can do damage. It probably wouldn't cause engine failure, but accelerated cylinder wall wear is likely.
My LT1 is cheap and old, but I would still be upset to find a bad cylinder because of a faulty air box in three years.
Just my .02

Are you listening U 8 Dusst? You better go back to Auto Mechanics 101 and start over.
I made this post in an effort to alert and possibly help others with Whisper lids to avoid potential problems with their engines. Why would anybody come on here like U 8 Dusst with those rediculous comments? He obviously has no knowlege of engines and their workings.

Why would I ever come on here with these "rediculous comments"?
Becuase of this comment.
In fact, if I have an abnormal amount of wear to my engine resulting from his defective lid then maybe even more restitution might be in order.
Just the idea of you calling them and saying "yeah, excuse me Barry, my EXTREMELY MODIFIED LS1 camaro's motor blew up last night at the TRACK, um, I demand you pay for a new motor because your intake is the reason why."
LOL, good luck.

i have an slp lid with a k&n. i just went to clean my filter for the first time, and i noticed that it wasnt very dirt. then i looked at my mass air and the screen was covered in bugs and other little chunks of crap! when i started screwin around with the lids, and filters (stock and aftermarket) i found that it was the k&n. the k&n is about 1/8" shorter then the stock filter. and all the air was getting sucked from the back of the lid. i fixed the problem with some fome tape around the top edge of my filter. im happy i was only driving it like that for about 2000 miles. i guesse im just trying to say is no matter what lid and filter you run check that it is sealed well...... and thats my story.

Before I had my Suncoast SS Hood installed with the ram air box I was running the Whisper Lid with a Holly Power Shot Filter. That filter fits that lid perfect. I was supprised that it got as dirty as it did for the eight months I used it.
Before I installed the lid I ran the holly filter for a couple of weeks with my stock lid. For the person that thinks you don't get hp from a filter, you are wrong.
If it wasn't for my differant hood I would still be running the Whisper lid with holly filter combo.
As far as the person that couldn't keep there's clipped. I had the same problem at first. I found out that I didn't have it positioned correctly. Once it was installed correctly it worked great.

I like the suncoast hood. The ram air box give a little improvement on the intake compared to the Whisper lid with the holly filter but barely enough to be noticeable. You should go with the hood you like the looks of rather than just because it has the ram air. The suncoast hood looks differant that the original SS hood. Click on the pictures in my sig and you will see what I mean.
Good luck!

Had the same prob
I got my whisper lip and the thing kept coming unclamped.... but my friend noticed that the prongs werent pushed far back enough in the slots on the back of the airbox and when it was the clamps never came undone again... PUSH IT AS FAR AS IT CAN GO and while your doing this clamp down the airbox... hope it helps
