Anything to look for in LS1 car?
I am thinking about getting a trans am that i found locally. ITs got 40k miles and is an 02. I realize that there are common posts like this but i want to make a complete list.
I think i know enough about fbodies that I don't need to take it to a mechanic or bring one with me. I plan to look it over very well mechanically can you add to my list anything else i should check, or anything that is commonly wrong with these things. Never had an ls1 before. Its close to stock with a few boltons. I saw it today just gave it a quick look over so heres what i plan to look at next time and keep in mind.
Here's my list of things to check:
Piston Slap (Didn't hear any when I saw it, but gonna try to look again)
No apparent Leaks
No rattles or anything like that when driving.
Window Motors have been changed as well as antenna.
Speakers sound pretty decent (monsoon)
Brakes- General Operation
All interior electronics and HVAC as well as lights
Rearend- Basic Operation
Transmission- m6, just gonna make sure it shifts well and hard
Body looks good.
Suspension (gonna check to make sure the shocks work and all)
TTops don't leak
Is there anything else major to check over?

Leaks, bottom of car. Fluid colors, if well cared for the fluids should look changed. Doesn't shoot black smoke when first started. alingment. take for spin. if off may have been in an accident. run a carfax report. 20 dollar. 2002, good year.

02's the best year for sure, i always check for rust, tire wear, under the hood, make sure the undercarriage is clean, take it for a spin and check the A/C, test how the engine responds to various pedal motions, check the brakes, etc.

since its a T/A look for common cracks on the door panels at the top, you can tell when its starting to crack. there will be a small white stress mark in the plastic. Make sure the clutch grabs good, try and ****** second in it you will be able to tell if it grabs or not and NEVER test drive a car with the radio on, turn it off and listen for noises. if it hasnt had a clutch yet, at 40k and somewhat hard driving it will be needing one soon more than likely.
