Question Auto headlights

Is there a way to override the light sensor that turns the headlights on and keeps them on at night. I don't have a problem with the DRLs or the automatic feature for that matter. I'm just wondering if there is a way to turn them off without turning the car off.

Have you emergeny brake on when you start the car and that overrides the automatic headlights, at least it does in my 97 Z, and then when you go to put it down dont put it down all the way, just get till it is almsost off, and your headlights wont come on for a while, they will come on eventually but you can go a little bit of distance without them turning on, if you put your e-brake on after the car is started it wont work

Beware that the E-brake trick does work, but it also disables the airbags, asr and the anti-lock brakes.

I know about the e-brake. The problem is the once I disengage it, I can't turn the lights off. It's more of a courtesy thing when I turn into people's driveways or in a parking lot. I know that there are tricks that work in other GM's. I would never drive with the e-brake on.

I Just rewired the Whole damned thing. It looks stock too, ran it through the switch, just got rid of the sensor.

well anyone who can tell me how to get those daytime and auto lights to not come on, I would surely appreciate it. Where is the sensor anyway?

Here you go:
1-Find your radio Now look up until you see the vent thing. If you have an alarm, then it's the place where the little red light blinks.
2-Pry up gently on the top of the dash. The entire thing is just snapped down but you only really need to pry up the part right obove the radio.
3-Look under there and you will see 2 things plugged into that vent. The one on the left is the alarm light. The one on the right is the automatic light sensor.
4-Turn the light sensor and pull it out.
5-Unplug the wires that go into the light sensor.
6-Plug the light sensor back into the vent so you don't lose it.
7-Look at the wires that were plugged into the light sensor. You will see a plug with 2 holes.
8-Take a short piece of wire and put one end in each hole.
9-Now tape that wire up so that it doesn't short out on anything and stick it back into the dash.
10-Now snap the top of the dash back into place and you are done.
The DRL's still work but you actually have to turn your headlights on now.Good luck.
Kevin

Question

Is there a fuse you could pull to disable them? My 98 Grand Prix also had drl's and Auto headlights and I pulled one fuse to disable both. Could you do that with the Camaro?

Do a search ... I know I and several others answered this question within the past 2 weeks (and many, many times before then)

The 2 most common questions in LS1 tech are:

Which exhaust? and Killing auto headlights.

Thanks for all the great info. I'll do a search to see other solutions just for reference.
