triboro pontiac in cinniminson NJ usually has 5-10 in stock at all times...they get the cars to feed the niche market...i dont know their phone # but you should give them a call or check on i think cars.com or autotrader.com i think they sell on there.

Just got back from the local CarMax. They had 01 SS vert A4 w/ 10k miles. I want one of these cars minus the vert!!!

Ok, first they only have one LS1 the SS, but they had 2-01 GT, 1- 01 Bullit, and 1- 01 Cobra. Ok I drove an auto GT and it sucked, while I was driving I was remebering the TA from earlier, yeah it sounded nice, but damn no power what so ever. I actually was thinking my 00 Jeep 4.0L was close to the same quickness. I was un-impressed to say the least. BUT,

Then it happened, I finally got to drive the SS vert, I told the sales lady I wasn't going to buy a vert, but they finally let me drive it after they knew I was a potential customer in the future. Ok, umm fast yeah fast thats it. Hands down way faster than the GT, how in the world do people drive Stangs?

Im no longer debating GT,Cobra, or LS1, its gonna be LS1.

Darren,

Thats a really nice car. Thats just like the TA I drove today except it was silver and no stripes. Where did you get the Firebird stripes?

Hey ED,

I looked at your site thats one bad@ss car! How much power did your TC give you? What exactly do the high performance TC do? I think I understand it as they kinda take away flat spots in the auto, to where the auto is ready at any speed. What would be the best brand/model to look for on TC and tranny coolers?

Thanks. I thought it gave the car some much needed color and at a fraction the price of a full paint job.

www.stripeman.com

look under model specific kits.

Check out pontiac and you'll see mine as the rally bird kit. You can order them in a variety of colors obviously.

They got nice stuff there for camaros and trans ams. That kit was $190 and included the hood bird, stripes for the hood, top and spoiler and two side birds. Took me three hours to install it.

A TC doesn't really give you any more power. It just gets you into your powerband quicker so it seems like you have more power.

A TC should be the first mod for an A4.

The high-end are the Vigilante and Yank. Others are TCI. Most people use the B&M Tranny Cooler.

Well, i have never driven stick before in my life. I just got my 98 SS M6 a week ago, its got the stock clutch with 67k on it,and i am doing better. I stalled out only once and it was infront of a cop.....lol But basically, it is easy to learn. I just hate the fact that the gears are so damn close!!! Like 1st and 3rd are less then a cm apart. Sometimes when i am shifting to from 3rd i will hit 6th or if i am going from 4th-3rd i will hit 5th. I am deathly affraid of hitting Reverse. It is just so darn close! And yes i have done the 3rd to 2nd shift, but thank got i was only going like 35. It shot the rpms up to 4500 But i can upshift fine, i just hate down shifting, i am always affraid that i am going to miss a gear and blow my car up. And i blew all teh $$ i had saved up on it so if anything happens to it i am horse f&cked. Sometimes i wish i got an A4, so i wouldnt have to worry about blowing my car up, but when i tell people it is an m6 they are like Wow, thats your car damn its a 6 speed. Then that makes me happy

Don't worry about blowing your car up. I'm pretty sure you can't shift into reverse going that fast. Second even if you mis shift, these cars are pretty durrable, speaking from experience. Now if you're missing shifts all the time and taching it out all the time then maybe you need a different shifter. (Try Pro 5.0) Also, Our gears are pretty far apart compared to the imports, some people get shifters to make the gears closer. Just my $.02

Don't worry about hitting reverse. At anything over 3 mph going forward reverse is mechanicaly blocked out.
And at the very first opportunity go buy your self a present, get a Pro 5.0 or B&M Ripper shifter. You will never regret spending the $160. It is a MUST mod for an M6 car.

I dont remember which person said it....

But whoever said the M6 was better for drag racing, you really live in fantasy land, or just need to stop smoking crack. And as far as holding over 600 hp stock, I know your smoking crack. Thier are no less then 5 LS1 cars in this town with less the 450HP, all with rebuilt T56's.

My car was originally an M6, and yes it was fun. Then I started losing races to cars with LESS HORSEPOWER that had A4's with big stall converters. Check out the ET list on LS1Tech and see how the top 100 cars are mostly automatics by a long majority.

Of course if your just a hobby racer, enjoy the M6. Its a great tranny if your not serious about drag racing. And from a roll an M6 is hard to beat against an automatic, even if it has a big stall. But off the line you will get your lunch ate by an auto car.

And one last thing.....yes, the T56 does have higher horsepower numbers accross the band. However, an aftermarket stall converter MULTIPLIES torque. Torque is what gets you moving quickly, horsepower is secondary.

Just my .02 cents. A few of you just had to be called on what you said. Not to diss ya, just to expand on your comments a bit.
