basic shift light ...

basic shift light ...
Well, here's my idea. I want to get a new A-Pillar gauge cluster with 2 pods. At the top of the A-Pillar, I want to install a small shift light (we're talking superbright LED here)
The top of the A-Pillar would be in my peripherial (sp?) vision and installing a small light there would not clutter my car. I already don't like the idea of adding the 2 pods, but I see no other way to add a decent temp gauge and then find something for the other pod.
So, anyone know of a way to wire a basic shift light?

This should get you started:

BTW, what's wrong with an A-Pillar pod? I want to get one for my car, even though I'm just a casual drag racer, I think half of it is looks! I would want of course Oil temp, maybe tranny fluid temp, possibly a bigger, more accurate tach, and a water pressure/temp gauge i think. Of course I could rig a switch to make one gauge do two purposes, like that guy on the site I posted above. When he pushes a button, his oil temp turns into a tranny temp. good idea for less clutter.

Nothing wrong with the pods. It's just not my "style". I like the low profile approach to everything.
For example ... on my '01 Z28, I removed all badges and emblems. I left the stock black rectangular exhaust tips because they were low profile and didn't show up. To everyone who looked at my car, it looked like a V6.
On the T/A, I have added no graphics or decals, although I like the silver chicken on the front license plate filler (but won't get it because it stands out). The A-Pillar pods would stand out and show that it's probably not stock. Same thing for a shift light mounted somewhere ... it would just scream "This guy races, so he's probably not stock."
Thanks for the link ... I'll check it out.
