Best Exaust for 99 T/A
I am looking at buying a cat back exaust system for my 99 Trans Am. Right now it is stock but I am hoping that won't last too long. I was looking into possibly buying a Corsa ($695.00) or a Borla ($621.00)but alot of people tell me that you are just paying for the name on those. I have also heard that flowmaster ($300.00) makes a good system. I am looking for the one that will help my performance the most. It's not sound I am looking for. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

And for the money It can't be beat.

I don't care for the way the FlowMaster sounds on an LS1. Mustangs or LT1 F-bodies yes, LS1 no.
That being said, the LoudMouth weighs half as much as any other catback, costs half as much as the ones mentioned, and is all stainless. It isn't as refined as the Corsa and the tips aren't as pretty, but I don't think anyone will argue as to which has the least restriction. Don't get me wrong, I like the Corsa and considered buying one.

With the Corsa and Borla catbacks, you're paying for more than just a name. Both systems are made of stainless steel, and they come with incredible warranties! If that doesn't matter to you, then I would highly recommend the Hooker cat-back. I had one on my '98 T/A 382, and it was GREAT. It flows great, and the sound is incredible! The price isn't too bad either. I don't like or recommend the Flowmaster cat-backs because their street mufflers don't flow very well. Their all-out mufflers, like those found with the Mufflex exhaust, flow very well. However, a Mufflex is overkill until you start getting into some considerable added power.
Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to talk about different systems. I've heard a LOT of cat-backs on LS1's, as well as owned quite a few, so I can give you a good idea as to what to expect from each. We don't list all of our cat-backs on our website, but we're in the process of updating it. Just call or e-mail me for the latest pricing.

One word, DYNOMOUTH!!!! Go to LS1.com, and do a search on it. It will cost much less than any setup, and will sound better than most of mentioned before. I used to think that the GMMG was the best, but for 800 bucks, i mean come on, and speaking oof that my DYNOMOUTH got compared to a GMMG just last night, and guess what, his frieds, and himself liked my exhaust better!!! ...I say do this and you wont be sorry!!!

I know I posted a response on LS1.com too, but I want to add to it here...
DON'T GET A FLOWMASTER!
The muffler only flows a little over 300 cfm!
To put that in perspective, the Borla flows almost 900 cfm, Magnaflow is close to 1100 cfm, and DynoMax 24222 (the Dynomouth muffler) flows 2200 cfm!
Just so you know, my Dynomouth cost me $140 including parts, shipping, and professional installation.
Try that with another exhaust...

I'm really happy with the Dynomax race-welded cat-back system.I paid about $190 (without tips) at a local shop and it out-flows almost every other cat-back out there.Plus it comes with a life-time warranty against rust.It is really quiet though,so don't get one if you are looking for sound. It's a lot deeper and meaner sounding than stock but not much louder.
