Angry big problem with local dealer what can i do

I have a 2000 Z28 with an autmatic i took it to the dealer this morning because the service engine soon light came on. The code read that the cats was bad. Well since the car has only 32000 miles on it i told them to replace it under warrenty. well i got a phone call form then about 4 hours later with them saying that they couldnt fix it under warranty because the slp loudmouth exhaust caused my cats to go bad therefore voiding all my warrenty. then they told me that the Granatelli MAF since caused the problem as well and i had to pay a $64 fee for them looking at my car to get my car back. Has anybody ever had this happen to you and if so what options do i have. i would like to get it fixed under warranty if i could to save the money for other things. Thanks for any help

Hi
I just had some problems with my car and the dealership had to keep it for a week. Turned out to be a defective computer which was replaced, but they tore my car upside down replacing stuff. I DID have a hell of a time getting anything done from this dealership, but I have a Loudmouth as well, and they didnt bother me.
When a dealership voids your warranty, does it void it for just THAT dealership, or nationwide??

Just curious, but how could a Loudmouth system cause cat's to go bad, or even cause any problems that would give an SES light, considering that the Loudmouth exhuast system occurs after the cats in the exhaust system?

Dude, if it's just the cats, take them out and get the sims. Then you'll be done with it. Maybe get some headers while your at it. IF smog is an issue, just buy som enew cats and put 'em in.

In Florida they cant keep your car from you. But they can get a lein on the car until you pay them. Always tell a dealer what mods you have on a car before they work on it.

My cats went out on my Z about 9 months ago, right after I had a flowmaster exhaust system installed on my car. The guy at the front desk give me the same **** they told you. "The after market exhaust is what made it go bad" Well, the day I went to the dealer just happened to be the day I had the exhaust professionally installed, so I was pissed! The guy give me all kinds of excusses and it just made me mader. So, I walked right into the garage and got one of the mechanics and had him come look it. He said it was fine and that the warranty was still good. I think the people at the front desk where tring to bend me over and take about $1200.00 out of rear end. They ordered the parts and a couple days later when I went back to get my car and I let the punk at the front desk know what was on my mind!
If I where you I'd just take it to a different dealer, there a dime a dozen.

That's bull****. By federal law, both those parts you named are aftermarket replacement parts and they have to fix them. Just do some research and find it.

It's been my experience that as soon as you touch the cats, even if you have it profesionally installed, that it voids the warranty. It's been explained to me that even if they see that something on the cat (could be as simple as a bolt) has been touched, that's what they put the blame on. They will try to justify that it's the exhaust or whatever that caused the problem, but you could have them run diagnostics on the car to make them prove it to you. If it doesn't work at one dealership though, go to the next until you find one that WILL fix it under warranty.

Um no. They are NOT aftermarket replacement parts. They are aftermarket performance parts. The law states that they need to prove that the parts caused the problem. And being that he has that MAF on there it will very easy for them to do since it probally richened his car which caused the cats to go bad. Best suggestion is to take that MAF off and take it to another dealer.
