bolt on mods

I was wondering if anyone has some sites that have bolt on packages that add a good amt. of horsepower per dollar.

Also, I've heard way too many things about LS1 exhaust systems. I've heard people tell me that long tube headers aren't as good, flowmasters are terrible, custom real duals are best, etc etc....

i'd appreciate some opinions on what exhaust to put on my 2001 z28

Long Tubes are probably the best bolt on ever made lol. For performence, get Long tubs and a cut-out for racing. When not, GMMG is the best cat-back for LS1's.

Hey I hope that I am in the right spot to ask this question. If not, please forgive me. I am just begining to add bolt on mods to my LS1. I currently have an extended warranty on the car. Does anyone know if just the simple cold air induction mod will nullify that warranty? Thanks in advance.

long tubes are the best, as are true duals but the problem is that you end up sacraficing ground clearance (sometimes) and most of all duals are LOUD, too loud for a typical daily driver.

a good set of headers, offroad pipe (no cats) and a good 3" catback will be sufficient flow for most street driven cars shy of stroked or blown applications. if you are in a situation where you need more flow than that, mufflex makes a 3.5" and a 4" catback exhaust.

there are a few vendors that do packages, i think www.thunderracing.com and www.tbyrne.com both do some intake packages. they typically include a lid, filter, maf sensor and sometimes bellows (more look than hp). just look around

LT's are great, but I hear from a lot of people that they're a waste until you get most of the other bolt-ons.

Just an FYI...

that's kind of a loaded statement.

100% bone stock car...add longtubes and the associated exhaust and you'll probably get 20hp gain. mainly due to the exhaust being a minor bottleneck in the system.

however:

take a full bolt on car, and add longtubes and associated exhaust and you'd probably pick up 25+ hp. this being because the exhaust side is a serious bottleneck.

I understand where you're coming from, but you have to think of the different side-effects of the various bolt-ons. Most of the bolton's (other than exhaust) will lean out your mixture, which is best on a stock car, since most come a little rich anyway. Adding headers right away will make your car even more rich and can really hamper your power. There's one guy in particular in our club out here (EFA) that did exhaust right away, and he said it "felt" like he lost power. Obviously he didn't, but there's many cases I hear of where headers will ruin the A/F and not let the car reap the full benefits of headers.

Sorry for rambling like that

Thunder Racing has a couple of different bolt on packages. Exhaust as always is a personal preference. I personally love the sound of a Flowmaster, most people think it is terrible because supposedly it does not flow as well as others. It can not make that big of a differance maybe 2-5hp, no big deal. Sound go with Flowmaster, if you want hp go with Borla. GMMG, Magnaflow.

One shouldn't have to tune until they work with internals or FI...

No, they're not the best thing to do, although they're not the worst. The only way I'd justify doing them first is if you wanna get a badass tone to the car before yo do anything else. But even then, you can get away with a nice catback, like Mufflex.

As far ast first mods, the guy above said it: lid/filter/exhaust, but exhaust meaning cat-back. Obvioulsy don't worry about the catback if you're true duals, but you can always get a cheap $30 cutout. That's good for a decent gain, and you can get the "loudness" taken care of

Other things people do right away are pullies, tires (VERY important), stall (auto), gears (manual). Just depends on your $$$
