oh ya and the ws6 comes with 3.23 gearing in the autos, so that's what i have
to get the 1.9 60's i dropped the rear tire pressure to 25psi, stall up only 200-300rpms above idle, then i launch at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, then punch it after i'm moving. little to nil tire spin and good 60's result
i wonder if i could hit 1.8s stock with just some DRs by launching at full throttle

My 2001 A4 WS-6 with only a few mods has yielded a best 60 of 1.995 (on stock Eagle GSC's). This 60 as well as my best times have been accomplished by staging and letting the car sit at idle. As soon as the 3rd amber begins to light I flash the converter and net my best times. I have seen a difference of over .2 seconds by flashing the converter as compared to stalling it to 1500. I have also seen similar results in other guys cars when they compare flashing to coming off at a higher RPM.

99, always had trouble luanching. SVT's first attempt at IRS, and it was a bad one. Unless you had around a grand in suspension mods, then you are in for some hard core wheel hop. Never seen a 99 pull good sixties unless it had a solid axle conversion, but the 01 were alot more refined.

yeah youre right about the 99s the guys running those 1.8s had 01s. 99s had mad wheel hop i wouldnt ever buy a 99 just cause of alot of reasons. I was at the 49er game today and seen a 03 cobra convertible in the parking lot damn that things so nice having a 6spd tranny now and just so clean i cant wait to get mine =)

Cobra times
nice 60 with the WS6. Question though about your cobras. You only managed to get a 2.1 with stock tires??? not bashing your driving skills but what kind of tires was it? how were you launching the car?? and what track was this at?? dont know much info about the 97s and how they were off the launch but the 99s and 01s i know of 3 that when stock were pulling off 1.9s and a couple getting 1.8s on stock tires. What were your 1/4 times with the cobras??
OK ,my launch technique is very basic, throttle up to 1800-2200 RPM (depending on track condition) side step the clutch and nail it, the wear on the clutch by riding it out is not worth the ET improvement (in my opinion). I doug out the old time slips, all runs were at Virginia Motorsports Park, with stock 245/45/ZR17 BFG's, and I weigh 285 lbs.

if you got a WS6 then you have f-1 goodyears, gsc's are the option on regulart T/a's or Z28's.

DOHCSVT, nice times on the 99 cobra with those mods id figure you were pushing about 300 at the wheels i figure that car could run high 12s but defintely wouldve had to of gotten a spec clutch and some 4.10 gears to launch that thing. have you heard of bob cosby??? although lightly modded his still N/A and is running mid 11s in his 99 cobra he has done the live axle swap and some weight reduction mods and the rest just simple bolt ons so maybe high 10s for a N/A cobra isnt far away i know thats a easy task for a LS1 but hey we are talking about ford here

Yeah I know of Bob. I live in Suffolk Va., and he lives in Va. beach thats about 45 miles away. I've seen his car. It is a strong runner. I wanted to put DR's on the 99 and drop the clutch at like 4 grand, but the half shafts scared me!
