Budget estimate on 1st gen. Camaro LS1 swap
I'm gathering information on a Gen 1 LS1 swap. $4000 is budgeted for a used LS1, T56, PCM, and all wiring from a donor car. But how much more is needed to do the swap? Brackets? Adapters? Maybe $4000 beyond the engine/tranny?
How much do these projects usually cost, including the stripped gen I car. More or less than $15k?
Is there a book or video to guide me through this?

$4000 for a used engine, T56, and PCM w/wiring is a bit optimistic in my opinion.
Depending on how in depth you get with the roller itself and depending on how much body work it requires, you could easily spend $15k there alone.
Figure paint and body, chassis, wheels and tires, interior. Thats just the cosmetic things, then you have the electrical system to contend with, fuel system, ignition, and the list goes on.
Not trying to discourage you by any means, I think it sounds like a great project. Just wanted to make sure you look at this from all angles before you dive in.

4000 for the engine, tranny, and wiring is not going to happen unless you get some incredible hookup. i always say for something like that, think of what you consider a good estimate and then double it (unless of course you're a professional and do it all the time)

4000! that s way to high. we bought a wrecked 2002 Z28 for 2000. pulled the engine and tranny, installed it into a 68 camaro. too easy. mounted it in 1 day. wired it and cranked it 2nd day. just gotta shop around i guess.
