Dude, I've said that so much that I'm tired of talking. A typical auto Z28 98-2000 LS1 goes for $4-5k around here. I traded in my 98 auto TA for $3000.

Even at 5k, if the pistons/rings are about to go, so what? Throw some new pistons in (forged this time and dished for lower compression), then up the boost and have even more fun. LS1 motors are so goddamned easy to work on and inexpensive to mod and make power that it's absolutely crazy -- even pulled the intake manifold at 2am in the driveway because you hydrolocked the motor and needed a way to get the water out? I have. If you actually changed the pistons in that motor and put in a small cam, then upped the boost, you'd be making way north of 500rwhp easily and reliably.

That is what I was thinking. Even with a bad motor I could throw 3k into the motor, have less than 9k in the car and have one fast car. Over 500rwhp and possibly over 20mpg.

$3k? Way less than that, dude. Basically just the price of a cam swap -- if the rings blow, drop some new pistons in.. The stock rods are good for 650ish horsepower and the stock crank is good for 800+.

I made 514rwhp through an AUTO with a P1SC blower at around 8psi with LT headers, an aftermarket cam (212/218 .550 baby cam), LS6 intake, and stock heads/internals through a full Magnaflow exhaust -- Around 26-27mpg highway, too.

Looks like the number is no good. It sounds like a fax machine when I attempted to call. I will try again tomorrow. I am going to take a look at a ss near my house that is going for $4,500; it is all stock with 140,000 on it, but it is a A4.

If I get another f-body I want to go with a ls1 car and stay away from lt1's. Most cars in the sale section are lt1's, the ones that are ls1 cars are mostly m6s. I really don't want a M6 unless it is a great deal. If someone were to ask me on the street if I would take 5k for my car it would be gone; I am just so tired of trying to fix it. Every time I fix it something goes wrong again. I am getting about 6.5mpg street the way it sits now. I think the darn remain autozone opti is my problem. I am going to go with a new GM performance opti and if that does not fix it I will be looking to buy a ls1 car. I would like to keep my car because I like the look on guy's faces when I smoke them, and they find out it's a lt1 and not a ls1. It does run strong when it runs correctly, but it runs like crap more often than it runs good. Also it only has 65,000mi on it.
