Cam and Heads Questions

I want to make some more horsepower, thinking of putting in a new cam;

Camshaft Specs: Valve Lift Duration Duration@.050
in: .571" 281º 228º
ex: .571" 281º 228º

SLP Camshaft Kit, LS1, 51013 Cam, Springs, Retainers, Locks.

First, this car is my daily driver, however I dont put many miles on it, and probably wont be my daily driver for long. After putting in a kit like this how driveable is it, will I still pass emissions test. Also, how necessary is putting in a new pair of heads when upgrading your cam. And what kinds a gains should i expect to see after the cam? And also if I go with new heads; SLP CNC-Ported LS6 Cylinder Stage III Heads:

Precision CNC-ported chambers and ports ensure maximum flow, velocity, and swirl.
Manley stainless steel 2.080" intake/1.60" exhaust valves feature a high-performance multi-angle valve job.
Milled 64cc combustion chambers
Heads are assembled with all new hardware, including:
SLP Titanium Valve-Spring Retainers
SLP Dual Valve Springs

When doing this kind of upgrade are there any other upgrades I will need to make, inorder for this upgrade to work?

this cam
272/280 210/218 .531/.531 112 LSA
VHP 047 cam

great torque gains and good drivability

Sissy cam JK

I would go just a little bigger than that. Not necessarily as big as mine though (228-236 over .600 lift)
Somewhere's in the 222-224 degree and .560-.580 lift and 114 LSA should make good power with stock heads or later on with ported heads.

Re: Cam and Heads Questions

it looks tiny. but, acts bigger. VHP used it in their test car. they just stepped up to their THE BOSS" 055 cam. [url]

278/286
216/224
.551/.551 or .600/.600
LSA 113

what roger told me about the two was the 047 was more fun to drive around town. the 055 deifnately improved the horsepower and ET. but not as fun driving everyday.
