Can anyone help troubleshoot knock/ping?

I was on it today in 2nd gear, at about 4800 rpms
First of all, I can't distinguish between knock and ping, so I will describe the sound. I got what sounded like someone hitting a piece of metal with a hammer randomly. I believe this is knock, however I am not sure. Does anyone have any idea how to fix or correct this problem? I added fuel treatment, and it is still there. My mods are FIPK pretty much on the engine. I would guess that the engine leaned itself out, but I can't seem to find what would cause a lean condition with my few mods. This has never happened, and definitely never at WOT. Any suggestions would help, I do not believe my mods are the cause.

02 Trans Am WS6 m6. Only engine mods are FIPK

Thanks

Jason

Pinging will sound like a rattle. It is usually caused by low octane gas. If it does it while using 92+ octane I'd take it in to be checked out. An 02 - might still be under warranty right?

In that case, good gas at low elevation taken into consideration, I'd take it in to be looked at if it happens regularly.

Well, I got on it this morning, and it only detonated a few times (maybe twice). This is after the cleaner was added. I am just going to burn through this tank of gas to make sure, and get my gas from a different station. If that doesn't fix the problem, I will take it in.

My 02 Does that too. I have noticed it more now that is 100+ out. I have trieed 87 though 91 (91 is the highest octan in CA) gas with octan booster and I still getting this. It is at the dealship today to get checked out. the guy i talked to in there said gm knows about the problem and they can temp fix it by adding a piston ring in but after a couple months it comes back so gm has told all dealers to stop doing this as warentee repair. They said if it more then just a rattle. or like a little chain type noise not to worry about it but im interested in what causes this or if there if a fix.
They checked my knock sensor and said it is working as it should.

W00t I fixed it! I cleaned the maf with alcohol. It was pretty dirty, so I will be removing the FIPK I am sure, everything is fine now.

Cleanning the MAF. I have a brand new car, only 15,000 miles on it. How could it get dirty.
I will have to give it a try. Just to clarify the maf is the mesh thing right before or after the mass air flow sensor??

What is the FIPK??

I have seen this refered to in many theads.
