Re: car wont start

Could possibly be the fuel pump. Do you hear the fuel pump turn on?? Could just be the fuel pump relay. If its the fuel pump you can spray some starting fluid into the throttle body and it may start to turn over. Have you had any problems with the car starting in the past? If its been hard to start in the past those could be the warning signs. If not it could be a simple relay.

Re: car wont start

Sounds like fuel pump getting hot. Do you run it below 1/4 tank often?

If it's not kicking over the motor at all, I would look at the neutral safety switch 1st if it's an automatic. Are all the battery/starter cables clean/tight?

Hell, I missed the "won't turn over part." Ya, thats NOT fuel pump related. Guess I need to read better while I'm wasting time at work...
Mine got where it was cranky like that, and it was a dead cell.

is there any way you can scan the computer? it might be the pass-key system (the little resistor in the key). one way to tell without scanning it, is to see if the security light flashes when you are trying to start it.

but first, do you have power in the car(lights, radio, etc.)?

Forgot to mention: a quick way to test NS switch: pop off the connector with heavy gage wires at the switch. Use a paper clip to bridge the connector wires. Insulate paper clip w/tape. Try turning it over. If it starts, replace ns switch. This trick saved me from a tow bill at my last job's parking lot when I had my 89 Formula.
