Cutouts

What are they? They just cut your exhaust tips closer to the box? Or is it more complicated than that?

Thx for the help!

They are pieces of tubing that you weld in somewhere on your exhaust system. Usully before the muffler or even before the cats. They have a cap, which can easily be unscrewed. This opens up another tube that runs into the open, which allows the exhaust gases to bypass the rest of the exhaust system, which drcreses the restriction and boosts hp. This makes it alot louder since the exhaust is no longer going through the muffler. It is also not legal to use these on the street. But okay for the strip.

You can also buy an electirc opener which will allow you to open the cutout without getting under the can and unscrewing the cap. Just flick the switch.

There is a pic of one on THIS site

If you want to hear one go here. They seem to have all kinds of downloads, including cutouts.

They are all the same pretty much. You have to buy one that is thr right size, like 2.5", 3", etc... They say what size they are.

And since this comment is likely to make you ask.. "what size do I need?" I will go ahead and say it depends on where you put it. But if you put it just before the axle (after the y-pipe) you will need a 3".. that is what I have and it fits and looks great! Plus mine gave me an extra 7rwhp by uncapping it.. no bad for about 60 bucks after install and all.
