Cylinder missfire????
hey guys, today i hooked up one of those chevy autoscanners to my computer and after searchig for a second the scanner said cylinder missfire detected! now i know what a missfiring cylinder is but what are the odds of this scanner being wrong? we ran the scanner on two of my friends trucks and everything was fine. the scanner belongs to my buddys dad who got it for his truck. what do you guys think. and if the scanner is right what do u think will happen if i dont take care of this problem?? i got a really nice and loud 99 ls1, i dont wanna lose it. any responses will help. thanks

could have just been a glitch in the car.
i had a random misfire once, lasted a few seconds and never happened again.
clear the code and see if it comes back.
could be something simple like bad plug or burned plug wire

thanks teke, could i clear the code on the autoscanner that i used? i am pretty sure i dont have a OBDII comp so would i have to take it somewhere to get professionally done? if it is really cylinder missfire would that make the car feel a little slower?

"don't have an obdII comp"???
any f-body 96 and later has OBD2
you should be able to clear it with the scanner...otherwise it's kindda pointless to have it.
you can always pull the battery cable for 15 minutes, that clears the whole computer.

sorry bout that.....yeah i cleared the code with the scanner then ran the car a little then hooked the scanner up again and it said no codes, pass. does that mean it was just a glitch or something or is the problem still there? sorry bout all the question i really appreciate it though.
