[cocky LS1 guy] They would be cocky too if they weren't so busy worrying about losing to Mustang GTs.

I am sure the LT1 response would be something about LS1s worrying about 03 Cobras, forgetting the fact that 03 Cobras have over hundred more hp then a GT. [/cocky LS1 guy]

Feh. Both of them suck to work on, and that's a fact. The LS1 has a little more room, but it's not like it's a world of difference between the two.

I just can't stand comments like "our block is so much stronger! Yours is aluminum!" The fact that their stock LT1 block is only a 2-bolt main must be slipping their minds.

I seriously think that there's not nearly as many "cocky LS1 guys" as they try and say there is. There's just a lot of disgruntled LT1 guys that don't have the newest thing anymore, so they get defensive. Hell, the L98 guys were probably b*tching about the exact same thing back in 1992-1993 when the LT1 was the new big thing.

I actually like the Ls1 cars Alot. They make good power to begin with and can be made to go real fast with just a few mods.
But I have had some run ins with some Cocky guys too that just so happened to be in an Ls1 thinking they had easy pickens on my Lt1. Check this out:

To say Ls1 drivers are cocky is just plain stupid. A Cocky S.O.B. is just a Cocky S.ob. no matter what car he is in.

Thx,
Claude

Reading a few responses in the other thread, is aluminum block worse than iron? I know you take a piece of iron and a equal size piece of aluminum and the iron is stronger. But is there a problem with the aluminum block being to weak on stock or modded cars? I think the 6 bolt mains(and probly some other design features) are there to make them strong enough. Has anyone had a problem? I read about a few high boost forced induction cars going to an iron block before a problem, but never seen or heard of one breaking or anything.

the ls1 block is reinforced.saying its weak and unreliable is incorrect.run both engines in stock form to its limit and see which one gives out first.my guess it wont be an ls1.just my guess however.

theres aluminum blocks that have held thousands of HP so that kills that theory.

They need to look at the Nov issue of GMHTP mag. The LT1 vs LS1 shoot out. The LT1s run close to as fast when they're stroked and running a larger cam etc, but most of the LS1's were out running them on stock bottom ends.

Something else for them to think about. Cast iron is brittle, cracks in aluminum can be repaired.

If they're so worried about block strength, room to work on, and cost of parts they should go w/a 1st or 2nd gen F-body.

alrighty I dont want to start a fight but cut bullshizzzz thier both good so get off your ls1 high horse. there is advantages and disadvangtages to both but it seems only people can think of the good sides of the motor and argue. both have draw backs. ya i own a lt1 but that does not mean it slow, nor am I stupid for buying one. yes the ls1 has better head designs, and in my opinion I rather have the aluminum block to, but the engine mods are way to expensive for me and for a 1/5 of the cost I can run 10's all day with my lt1. so its basicly down to a couple things witch is the consumers opinion.
