yes, yes. lets refer to the magazine that bought us the 94 Z28(grape of wrath) that they couldnt get out of the 13's. yeah, lets listen to them. like i said in the other thread, i dont have any problem with the LS1, it is a great engine. BUT some of the owners think it is the BEST engine ever.same way vette guys look down on f-bodys. same way viper guys look down on vette guys. that is whay us LT1 guys have to deal with.

i just dont understand how u can say one is better than the other. after u do the same internal work to them they are about the same. a buddy of mine has a 99 Z28 with a 224/224 cam and bolt ons (six speed) and he ran a tenth SLOWER than my LT1 with a 230/236 cam and an A4!!! every car is built different. it was given more from the factory....woopdeedoo, that makes it SOOO much better. they have a 6 bolt block, holly **** that is freaking REVALUTIONARY!!!! they are faster from the factory, that doesnt make them a better motor.

just outta curiosity though, why is that most of the LS1 guys that do big cubic inch motors, do it with IRON truck blocks?

anyways, i never said the LT1 was better than the LS1, just that the LS1 is not the best motor ever built or better than the LS1.

cost says a WHOLE bunch to say here too. u go buy a used LS1 (say even a 98) for between 10-12k and ill buy a used LT1 car for 5-7k and sink the other 3-5k i saved by buying an LT1 and we will race and see who wins.

yea, keep denying and rationalizing.use the cost excuse which is BS and say its not better when both are modded.look at times guys are running with ls1s and stop believing what you want to believe.

Ya know, that arguement might fly if these were magazine built and driven cars, but they are cars that were built and driven by people not affiliated w/the magazine. I noticed how you can't argue the point that the stroked w/aftermarket bottomended and larger cammed LT engines were competing w/stock bottom ended LS engines. Instead you try to attack the source.

Why do LS1 people run iron blocked big engines? Maybe because GM produced an LS based 6L iron block, if you can get the bigger bored block for the same price as the 5.7L why not use it? It isn't our fault they didn't make a 6L LT block.

You go buy your high milage, ragged on, crapped out $5000 car and see which one needs less work to go fast and look good. I looked at LT1 cars when I was car shopping. The ones that cheap were well over 100k mile POS's. The one's in good shape are several gran more. As for LT1s being more dependable, one word kills that concept and its OPTISPARK.

The LS1 is just a better starting platform. Stock (my 00 SS didn't come w/any SLP items) I'm running very close to the times that my friend's 93 Firehawk ran w/all the SLP stuff they come with plus pullies, shortie headers, soft tires and some tuning in addition for mods. With some traction, I'll out run him. That sounds like its better to me.

My 70 SS ran 12's as a daily driver. It was cheaper to buy and build ($800 for the long block) and far easier to work on. By your standards it was better than an LT1. I would disagree, because to run the 12's it was a gass guzzler and lost dependability.

As for your mod for mod comparison, your cam was bigger. Also him having an M6 could work to your favor too. You should know that w/a manual the driver could very well have been the deciding factor. Post some 60' times and MPH while your at it. Lets get the whole picture.

Ok , This is getting dumb . The ls1 as a superior desighn to LT1's . Has way more horses getting way more MPG . Easier to work on . Its a better engine , hands down ! its common knowledge once you weigh out the facts . if you ant see it your narrow headed and have a one track mind . I love my lt1 , there is nothing wrong with them . reliable , strong engines . I am not putting them down in any way , there is nothing to put down " exept the optispark "
And you can get a LT1 car for 4grand oin good shape , I bought a 95 last year for 2000 dollars form a guy hard up for money w/67k on it , needed opti and a fuel pump though , i let my mechanic buddie have it for 2000 cause he does free work on my cars , it looked nice parked next to his 2002 ram air ws6 . BUT RUNS A CONSITANT 14 FLAT IN BONE STOCK FORM . ....there is nothing to argue about they are both great engines . In a perfect world we could all own one of each !!! I Take one thing back , the LT1 has a superior sound !!!!!Just cant seem to get that same sound out of aN LT1

The LS1 is better and thats all there is to it. Maybe you LT1 guys need to research a little more before coming here to argue ur so called "facts". First off, it is a well known fact that aluminum block engine weigh less which equates to less excess weight. The lighter weight usually by 90-150 lbs is at least a full 1/10 of a second off your quarter mile time. Also, your car will not have as much understeer because there will be less mass trying to shove u off the road. So, aluminum blocks not only are better engines they help with your steering too. Oh and about the strength issue. It is a known fact that most aluminum blocks are intended for high-performance use right from the start. The manufacturers of these blocks incorportate cool features in the blocks like 4 bolt main (in the LS1's case 6 bolt mains), extra stiffening webs, improved oiling, and more. Every way you look at it aluminum blocks are better. The LS1 also is easier to work on considering we dont have reverse cooling to deal with or crappy optispark. If the coil goes out on my LS1 it takes 5 minutes to change. The LS1 is a completely new engine that has revolutionized the small block chevy market. It just seems that the LT1 guys are jealous. You know what? It doesn't matter if I spend more on parts or not. When I open my hood for people to see at least my engine will be just as shiny as the supercharger in front of it.

Both engines are cool, they suck, squeeze, bang and blow

The LS1 is great, I almost put one in my thirdgen, but went with the LT1 instead.. I use LS1s as a performance benchmark..

My bolt on car just went 13.5 at 104 with a six speed and 3.42s with 35psi in the tires and 3/4 full tank of gas..

My friends LS1 SS bone stock ran exactly the same times..

So I am happy that my bolt on lt1 can run with a stock ls1.. heads and cam are next for me, and my friend..
