Question Descreened MAF w/ MAFT?

Ok, I have a question. My friend is having a hell of a time trying to tune his car. He just got heads and cam put on, and has a descreened MAF on it. I'm thinkin about trading him my stock one for the time being. He said he'll give it back to me when he finds a good deal on a stock one, or when I get H/C. He said he'll give me his descreened one and MAFT and tune it for me with the MAFT until we switch back. My question is, I know this would boost the power in my car, since i'm a bolt on car for the time being, but would it give me any problems, like stuff getting in my engine and all since the screen isn't there? I just wanna know if I should do it or not, cause I dont' wanna mess up my engine or anything! Thanx guys, please fill me in!

I don't believe it would mess up your engine, most it could do is make your car run more rich/lean. Of course unless it isn't polished/sanded correctly. I suggest resetting the PCM immediately after installing the descreened MAF should you decide to do it, so the computer can recognize the descreened MAF, because with it descreened there is more air flowing through the MAF.

Thanks for the info. What do you mean by "Of course unless it isnt' polished/sanded correctly"? I think it's just a stock, descreened maf, but i'm not sure. If it wasn't polished or sanded correctly, what could it do? Thanks, cause when it comes to stuff like the maf, i'm retarded!
