Question do ASP underdrive pullies affect driveability?

I was wondering since the way the pullies work is by slowing other accessories down such as air conditioning and power steering. So, for example, would my air conditioning not blow out as much air with the new pullies? Do the pullies cause the accessories that they slow down not to work as well as they did with the stock pulley?

I dont know how they will act on a LS1 but I used to have the underdrive and alt. pulley on my 3.4L Camaro and I had a few problems. Both my power window motors went bad because they no longer got the same amount of power to them and burned them out. At idle the lights would be dim, air conditioner would not blow as well, if I did want to roll my windows down I would have to rev the engine so I could do it. Oh, and I ended up having to replace the alt. too.

Like I said I dont know how they will be on an LS1, but I am not going to be putting them on mine to find out this time. I didnt get enough out of the mod to warrant doing it again.

Just my .02 though.

About the only time anyone has problem with pulleys, is when they do the alternator pulley, particlarly if it is on a A4.

If you do just the crank pulley it should be fine. I have had the crank pulley now for a year and 17,000 miles with no issues.

Gotta agree with V6ToZ28 on that one. HP loss comes primarily with this pulley wheel. Make it bigger, turns slower, but your accessories won't be affected as much, and you won't have as many problems with the rest of the system.

Good Luck!!

Ok.. I am not going to argue with anyone on this one because I dont have any grounds other than my problems. (which did include the alt pulley everyone is saying not to do)

But, explain if anyone can, how having the alt pulley is worse? The underdrive pulley is larger so the belt turns slower, so the altenator pulley is smaller to help compensate for the larger underdrive pulley. So all and all I dont see how the altenator pulley is worse for the system.

Just wondering if anyone can explain that one. Later guys..

I have absolutely no complaints about the ASP crank pulley on my T/A.

My pulleys have not affected the driveability of my Z28. They have been a very worthwhile mod. My passenger side window has slowed down a bit, but I have enough patience to waych it roll up. Good luck
