i think CHP is California Highway Patrol..
I just got mine as well.. Iam alsmot at 1500 miles.
I may change the oil this weekend before making a 400 mile trip. Or I might not. hehe

I will race it next week if the weather is good.

Yes CHP is california highway patrol and they just got a **** load of camaro CHP cars which are made to look like normal camaros (the lights on the top barely show and other stuff), no wonder everyone frigging slowed down in fron of my V6 camaro, it was white! I don't know too much about the engines they have but I assume they are the Z28 engine because they were talking about them on the news and bragging about going up to 150mph.

150mph?? Yep, I can verify that!! I took my car out last week for a good highway run (~2:30am) and had the speedo past the 250km/h (155mph) mark, so they're good for about ~160mph before the governor kicks in (which is at 163mph I believe I read on here once?)

In regards to engine break-in, be nice to the car for a few miles to make sure everything's cool, then give it the boots. My car now has 4000miles on it, I gave it an oil change at 3000miles, and since it had about 300 miles, I've been driving it progressively harder. Even when it only had a couple hundred, I still had it on the highway doing 100mph (not for a long time), and it runs perfect still. Like someone said earlier, if it's gonna have problems, they'll usually show early in the engine's life, or there won't be any at all. HTH.

If your car came with Z rated tires stock then your govenor is at 163mph, I forgot what they said it was at if you don't have Z rated tires but your car must have come with the Z rated tires if you got up to 150mph.

Sorry I can't help on the original topic, other then I know the LS1 runs better 1/4 miles after its been broken in.

Thanks for all the help guys.

One thing that I am not too sure about is the 0-60 time of a Camaro SS. Does anybody know what it is?

My motor trend magazine says 5.2 for a SS and 5.0 for a WS6 both were manuals, I think the WS6 driver must have shifted better because it is the same engine setup.

Here's my $.02 -- after plopping down $33k for a brand new car, I'm gonna follow GM's suggestions to the "t" for the first 500. Worst case scenario if I do... I have a wait a little before experiencing the full ***** of the LS1.
