Does anyone have an LS1 That doesn't have a squeaky belt???

WTF.

I just bought a new belt because my old one would squeak after rain.

So I get in my car after vacation, I replaced the belt the day before i left. and BAM it's horrible squeaking and ****.

It is the belt because if you spray it with water, it goes away for a few mins.....

Anyone else have this problem?

Sound like a bad tensioner to me. The a/c tensioner went out in my '99 with about 80k on it.

So apparently i'm not the only one!

I guess for some reason the LS1 is more picky about what belts you get???? I went cheap on the belt.....I guess I'm going to return it and get the better ones (goodyear)..

after reading it seems the gatorbacks solve the problem.

Change the tensioner, the stock ones are useless because the bearings inside fail pretty easly unless you grease them up often. Just like bluebird says get a katech tensioner, i've had mine for about 2 years no more squeaking, here's the link http://www.katechengines.com/street_...etail.php?id=1

Just for future searches...... it's about 20 bucks cheaper at advance auto parts than at autozone for the gator backs.....

get back to us when you hit 70k or so. I've been through several belts, not even gatorbacks would help, I'll have to try the new tenionser.

What's funny is that my AC one was already a gator grip......but alas the sound is gone....hope it stays that way.
