Question drilling the throttle plate on h/c camaros?

I was reading about various Ls1 owners that have heads and cam packages. They were also listing that they drilled the throttle plate either like 1/8" or 13/64" How does drilling the throttle plate effect the engine. Is it something done on all cars with a heads and cam package and what would be the difference in the effect of drilling 1/8" or 13/64"
Thanks

they were doing this to allow a little more air in at idle so their cars would idle just a hair higher, so their engine's wouldn't stall idling because of their new cam..
