I just went to car x to get a quote on installing this dynomax bullet muffler and they told me it can't be done. They said there is not enough clearance?? Is this just a case of not wanting to do it? I'm having an awful time finding anyone that will do this.

What I did was actually go to the different muffler shops. While there in person I showed them the diagram I printed off of ratio411's website.

There is enough clearance and you can tell them you know this for a fact since this is a exhaust mod that has been done to hundreds of LS1's without any issues.

Now me personally, I didn't even bother with the franchise places. So I never asked Midas, CarX or any places you see TV commercials for. Just figured that they might not want to install a muffler that they didn't sell me. But I did find a lot of individualy owned places that will do it.

If you look around your and any neighboring towns for places like "Valquez and sons mufflers", Merlin muffler & brake", "Right fit muffler" and well you get the idea. Those places are more likely to want the business and probably do a better job since they also want referrals.

Don't get discouraged and go into the shops in person and show them the diagram. Tell them it's very popular and fitment is not an issue.

Good Luck

why would you buy the loudmouth and then replace the resonator with the dyno max? Wouldn't you just use the stock pipes and the dyno max?

I don't think he bought the loudmouth. But it has been done both ways. By using the stock pipes you save a ton of money and lose very little in the way of flow/HP gains. But there are two reasons that I can think of why people would buy a loudmouth and replace the resinator with a dynomax bullet muffler.

A). If they found out after the loudmouth was installed that it was raspy, too loud for thier tastes or had bad highway drone. So they end up putting this muffler in to "fix" what they perceive as a problem.

B). They want new 3" pipes instead of stock 2.75". Some people are willing to spend the extra cash to get the slp name and .25" upgrade in pipe size.

Personally I think it's a waste. You just need to get the muffler and weld it in stock pipes. But if I ever do upgrade it'll be true duals with two bullets in new 3.5" pipes.

Thanks for the reply Darren. You said exactly what I was thinking. I had a muffler shop tell me that there wasn't enough room to do true Duals. I'm about to get some money and I am looking to get some headers and I really want true duals.

No problem. For true duals with LT headers it's a lot more complicated then just welding in a dynomax bullet. I'm not sure I would trust a regular muffler shop for that anyway. Your best bet for a full exhaust setup like that is to find a performance shop like Speed Inc. They specialize in LS1's and high performance vehicles and will do that kind of work for a little higher price but you'll get professional work and can have it tuned and dynoed if you want all at the same time.

If you have trouble finding one then get to a local track (if they are still open by you) and ask the guys there where is a good place for header/true dual work.

Good Luck

I have now been to four muffler shops with my diagram and explained in person the set up. Everyone of them said it won't fit, there is not enough clearance. I told them I got this set up from this site and there is alot of setups done this way. They still tell me it can't be done. *sigh* Guess I'll keep trying on my next day off

They must not want to do it is all I can figure. Either that or they are just plain stupid. Sorry to hear your having this much trouble with it. It'll be easier I think when you have the Bullet Muffler in your hands. When they see with thier own two eyes how small this thing is they might change thier tune on fitment.

Good Luck and don't get discouraged. There was three places out by me willing to do it and I picked the cheapest quote. Hang in there, there has to be a place that will do it for you. Remember to hit any and all "mom and pop" muffler shops you can find. Like I said having the bullet in your hand might make a difference too.

What do you mean it sounds like a dump truck ?? I have had the DM done my 02 Z for over 9 months now.. At first it was louder inside the car versus stock but you will get used to it real quick.. Damn exhaust gets ya noticed when WOT... Magnaflow sounds good but it too quiet for my tastes...

Magnaflow is not quiet at all.... ***in screams at wot... deep smooth tone all the way up the rpm's.

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion. But I can honestly say that no dump truck ever sounded as good as my car does

I have gotten a lot of compliments and I myself love the way it sounds. But not everyone likes the same things. A lot of people praise the loudmouth while others curse it. Magnaflow is a great catback but many feel it's too quiet. But again everyone is just a little different on what sounds "best to them".

I'm sorry you didn't like it but that certainly does not mean that everyone else won't. Most people like the way this setup sounds but there will always be people who prefer other systems.

Good Luck
