Post Electric cutout question...

Hey, anyone know what the gains are on an electric cutout, and where to get it from? I am getting FLP Headers soon, and may go ahead and do a cutout while doing the headers. A friend of mine was telling me that my timing would be off with an open exhaust!?!? WTF was he talking about? Did he not have a clue as to what he was talking about? Thanks.

Give Barry over at Quick Time Performance a call. He makes the electric cutouts and can tell you the most about them.

While I don't have one, I've seen them and I'm pretty impressed.

Nothing you do exhaust wise is going to have an effect on your timing. Your friend doesn't know what he is talking about. I've seen gains of 5-10hp from installing a cutout after the headers. I've also seen someone show a decrease, though I don't see how that could happen.

Do you guys know where to get an electric cutout for less from somewhere other than Quick Time Performance? I thought I saw an electronic cutout for like $50.00 somewhere. Now, I looked on Quick time, and they want like $126.00. Thanks.

Go with QTP. You dont want one that falls apart. You wont be disapointed.

I have the Quick Time unit and I am very happy with it. My initial unit was defective so Barry swapped it out for another one and has been working fine since.

Get the McCord. It's the best electric cutout on the market(in my opinion) and I got mine for $75 SHIPPED on a GP. You will not find a new eletric cutout for less than that. I have had my MPP2 for about 3 months now and it works great. Surprisingly light, seems to be built well, the MPP2 is the only eCutout that is available for Group Purchases, and Keith McCord has got the best customer service out there.

Keith will also work with you to customize the cutout and/or the control switch to your specifications. Very easy to work with. Definitely worth a look.

I didn't get in on a GP so it costs $95 or $100. Install was pretty easy and it works just fine.
