Electronic Shift Improvers Vs. Shift Kit

HERE IS MY PROBLEM. I WANT TO FIRM UP MY TRANS BUT DONT KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO ABOUT IT. I LIKE THE IDEA OF AN ELECTRONIC SHIFT IMPROVER BECAUSE YOU CAN TURN IT ON AND OFF WHENEVER YOU WANT. BUT I WOULD THINK THAT A REAL SHIFT KIT WOULD BE BETTER FOR THE CAR.

MY QUESTION IS, WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF EACH AND WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR THE CAR?

Not a trans expert, but what I have read I would go for something like the trans go kit. Electronic improvers really just increase line pressure, yes firmer shifts but not so sure the increase in pressure is good for trans. The kits I believe are much better for your trans. Just my .02...

Well, for my 2001 I used the Hypertech III to increase the firmness of the shift on the stock tranny. It's probably not great for it, but I used it for years on my 94 LT1 and it still runs like a bat outta hell tofday on the original tranny. However, it's true, a shift kit will do more for you than programming (cost more than programming though). I know of a guy out here in Southern CA that does custom programming (I think about $500+) and he can make the tranny slip rather than just have a hard shift. That works like a charm too.

But anyways, if you want to go all out, just do the kit, pay the money, because even though you can turn off programming, what would make you ever want to?

First, please take your caps lock off. That's the equivalent of yelling and it makes your post very difficult to read.

On to your question....I bought a B&M Shift+ (which is electronic) and it worked. But it is nowhere near as good as a shift kit.

Stage III shift kits that snap your neck w/ every shift are AWSOME. Be ready to break it loose on your 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. It can get prety WILD.
